MARKETING YOUR ARTICLES

By: Carol Woods
* Are you trying to promote a web site or online store?
* Are you a consultant or small business owner looking for new customers?
* Do you have an e-zine and want new subscribers?Writing articles and sharing them online can be a great way to meet all of these goals!

What to write about:
——————

Before you actually begin writing, get out a piece of paper and write down your goals for the articles. Are you trying to bring business to your online store? Do you want to locate new customers for an offline business? Write down specifically what you hope to accomplish.

Next, write down the type of people who you are seeking. What type of people are most likely to buy from your store, for example? Are they male or female, young or old, parents or single? Write down as many characteristics of your ideal customer as possible.

Then, look at the combination of your objective and your desired customer, and figure out some article topics that would be of interest to a person in your target group.

Heres an example to give you a feel for what Im talking about:

* Goal: bring customers to my online store, which sells birthday items
* Ideal Customer: a mother with children between 1 and 10 who is planning a birthday party for her children in the next few months.
* Topics:

    - How to plan a first birthday party
    - How to plan a childs birthday party
    - Kids parties on a budget
    - Unique party ideas for children
    - How to have a _ birthday party (dressup, zoo animal, etc etc)Write it:
    ——————

    Now, start writing your articles!

Pick one of your topics to start. Develop an outline of the topics you want to cover. Dont pick too many; ideally your article will be only about a page in length.

Write it! Keep it to the point, share as much information as you can, and keep the paragraphs fairly short. When youre finished, have someone else proofread it if possible.

Finally, develop a short resource box to place at the bottom of all of your articles. This is only 4 – 5 lines, and tells a little about you plus has a link to your web site, an email address, or whatever else you want. If you include some sort of free gift or report for people who click through that will increase your click-through rate.

For example, here is the one I use:

Carol Woods is the editor of Work at Home Income, a weekly publication of Income Building Blocks. IBB offers free ideas, information and inspiration for moms who work at home – or want to! For lots of free ideas to help you find a work at home job or start a home based business, visit us at and sign up for Work at Home Income!

    Market it:
    ——————

There are 2 components to marketing your article.

First, post it to online directories that publishers use to locate articles they can print in their publications. The usual arrangement is that you post your article to a database, and the publisher can then reprint your article as long as they include your resource box at the bottom.

These are the directories I use:

    http://www.ezinearticles.com/
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/aabusiness (if your article is business-related)
    http://www.goarticles.com/
    http://www.authorconnection.com/
    http://www.ideamarketers.com
    http://makingprofit.com/mp/articles/submit.shtml

Second, if you have time – do a search for ezines which you think your target customers might read at cumuli, http://www.cumuli.com/ezines/

Once youve found some appropriate publications, send a copy of your article to the publishers of those ezines to see if they would be interested in including it in their ezine or on their web site.

How to write an Article?

By: Lakshmi Menon
Most of us know that writing an article is the best and the
cheapest way to get targetted customers to your website. But how do
we go about it?You may be thinking, "I'm not a writer. I don't have the required
talent. I've not written anything in the past."One thing you must understand is you need not be a professional
writer to write an informative article consisting of about
300-500 words. All that is required is your knowledge about the
given topic which you want to write. This knowledge can be
attained through your own experience and reading through other
articles.

The best thing to do is just browse through the articles in various
ezines. Pick up the topic of interest to you and start reading as
many articles as possible preferably at a stretch. You will be
amazed to know that you too can produce such simple articles.

The next question which may pop up in your mind is "Already so
many people have written articles on this topic and how can I write
about such a topic again?"

Don't get disappointed on this issue. Please remember each one's
article is a unique piece when they write it in their own words.

If you have any doubt, give it a try. Give a topic to 10 people
and ask them to write an article on that topic. You won't believe
until you see them, all of them will be a unique piece.

You will be surprised to see that when you write your thoughts on
the paper and publish it as an article there will be lot of readers.
The only thing you have to be careful is that your article is
informative and easy to understand for a common man.
Once you start writing you will notice your depth of knowledge
on the subject and your hidden talent of writing.

If you can write an "How to" article you can be a successful
writer. Millions of people will be browsing through the net for
the "How to" articles.

Try writing your own experience when you faced a problem how did
you solve it. That information might of help for many others.

Just keep writing.

Webmaster Interview : Article site owner

By: Lee Munson
yfs1 is an experienced webmaster and prolific forum poster who has recently started a new article submission site, http://www.ArticleDepot.co.uk Within just a few weeks he is receiving hundreds of new articles and also many hundreds of visitors each day.Below are his answers to questions we put to him on June 3rd, 2005.

What is the philosophy of your organisation?

The main goal for Article Depot is to provide a two-pronged resource for webmasters. The first is a place where they can distribute their articles and gain the SEO benefit of the links contained within. The second is to provide them with related and useful content to supplement their site and gain greater exposure. We combine these two things with a "Keep It Simple" philosophy. There are no confusing signups or new code to learn. Most article submissions take less than 20 seconds from start to finish.

What are the organisation's plans and goals?

Our goal is to become a leading article distribution site by constantly adding new features that benefit the people that make Article Depot what it is, the webmasters.

What do you consider to your site's strengths and weaknesses?

Our strength is our ability to adapt. We always have features in development. Our biggest one right now is to have an RSS feed which webmasters can put on their site and display articles in their chosen category as they are submitted. This would mean they could have fresh content and wouldn't even have to come to the site. Our weakness may be our passion for this type of site. We are always trying to see things through webmasters eyes which can be difficult when you have the level of involvement with a site that we do.

What made you decide to run an article site?

I am a webmaster myself and I saw a need for a certain kind of article site. I struggled to find it so at first decided to build one to meet my own needs. It has now taken off with over 2,000 submissions every two weeks and unique visitors increasing 10% a day. I believe in it and feel it's the future of SEO. Content will always be important and can often help protect you from Algo shifts.

As the owner of ArticleDepot, what do you find to be some of your biggest challenges?

By far the biggest challenge we face is SPAM. With any distribution site, most times you are judged on the value of your site by the quality of the articles. This is why each article is viewed by a human reviewer before being added. This ensures the quality of our database and ensures you are getting the quality you expect when you come to Article Depot.

Do you think that content is still king?

I still believe in Content as King in an overall sense. Most SEO's these days have taken to the phrase “Links are King, Content Is Queen” but I would disagree. I don't disagree for a moment that links are essential and important, especially with Google. What I would argue is that if content is used correctly it can excel in places links can't. The sandbox is a prime example. No matter how many links you manage to get, it is unlikely you will be able to escape the sandbox. However, by using content during this time, you can actually rank for 1000's of less competitive keywords that aren't held by the sandbox. Many times those 1000's together bring in significantly more traffic than the one competitive keyword.

How do you ensure that the quality of your content remains high?
The only way possible which is human intervention. Each article is read and reviewed to be sure it has the quality we expect at Article Depot. Most webmasters have a lot of pride for what is being distributed in their name so for the most part the majority of articles are approved within two hours.

Of all the articles that have been submitted to ArticleDepot, which one sticks out as your favourite?

In general some of my favourite articles are those where people show a passion. Recently we had an article where someone basically meant to vent out their frustration with returning something in a store. What followed was one of the funniest and well written pieces I have seen in a long time. If that person applied that passion to all of their writing, they would probably be quite successful.

What are your tips for writing a good article?

Write on what you know or have a passion for. This comes out in the article and gives it a quality you just can't fake. An authoritative article is better than a rehash every time.

Are backlinks from your site SEO friendly?

Absolutely. This was a major issue I saw with other articles sites. Most of them either limit the location of the links to areas that do not make sense or pass them through their own site in an effort to stop any benefit going to the webmaster. This goes against the ideals of a world wide web and at Article Depot we are very sensitive about the importance of links from both a SEO perspective and a visitor one.

Why should someone submit their article to your site first?

They should submit an article to us first because of the quickness in which our articles are spidered (Currently between 2-5 days), the SEO friendliness of our outbound links which are all static, and the fact that we have more and more webmasters coming to Article Depot to get content for their sites.

Most people submit articles to gain links to their sites. What, if any, other benefits do you see from posting articles to your site?

Its also about exposure. Many times in peoples' rush to just get links they forget about the benefit of having control over the content that surrounds those links. Most of our submitters see a signifigant rise in conversions (whether that's a sale or a signup) because people are more likely to click on a link when it is surrounded by content they are interested in. Footer links will never go away but the real power has always been in above the fold natural links.

Pay Per Click advertising and Article Marketing Compared

By: Joel Teo
At first glance, Pay Per Click advertising seems to be the fastest way to send targeted website traffic to your websites online. You choose some keywords and add your website’s url and you are done. However, with most things online the competitive search terms are often very expensive and you spend lots of money to win the Pay Per Click wars. This article will list five reasons why article marketing may be better than Pay Per Click Advertising.

Permanent links
Anyone knows that once you stop paying for your pay per click results, you will stop getting website traffic. Articles on the other hand always stay on the pages of a high traffic website if added. This is like opening a shop in a busy shopping mall. You get more targeted website visitors this way quite easily. Once readers read the targeted articles and then click through to your website, they are in the mood to read whatever offers that you can sell and you tend to make more money this way as they treat you as an expert if they like your article. Thus in article marketing, you get traffic on a continuing basis and not just when you pay for it.

Viral effect
Not only that if publishers like your work, they put it on all their websites and send it to their newsletters with many readers and some of these readers will start clicking to your website and signing up or purchasing whatever you are promoting. Some readers if they like your article will forwarding the email to their friends and make you even more money. Some other publishers will start adding your article to their blogs and generate even more website traffic for your website that you are marketing. The more targeted website traffic the more money you will start making.

Page Rank
The basis of Search Engine Optimization (“SEO”) today is based on PageRank and website traffic. Granted that you know how you get added website traffic with article marketing, we now turn to SEO. The major search engines today looks at the number of inbound links from targeted website pointing to your website. This means that if you have a cooking website, the more links to your website from cooking websites the better. Article marketing works in the same way as if your business is on health for instance and you write health articles, your publishers are going to be health websites and your PageRank due to the number of inbound links pointing at your website will increase. Your search engine rankings will also start climbing and you will start getting more targeted website traffic and make more money.

Price
Writing your own articles and publishing them can be free as compared to paying for Pay Per Click Advertising and the more articles you write the more well known you will be and the more targeted website traffic you will get. Why spend hundreds each month on Pay Per Click advertising when you can start getting website traffic for almost free by writing articles on topics relevant to your particular internet business. But that said, time is what you will be spending so if you want the easy way out, get someone to ghost write an article for you. You can get it for $5 per article or less at websites like Elance.com or getafreelancer.com.

In conclusion, this article highlights four reasons why Article Marketing is a good way to consider especially if you are on a tight budget and its ability to send your website continuous targeted website traffic is something that you should consider carefully if you want to use this method of online promotion.

The Ins and Outs of Article Submissions

By: Deborah Carraro
Congratulations! You’ve written your first article (or possibly your 10th or 100th!)As you no doubt already know, writing articles is probably the most effective way to establish yourself as an expert in your field and increase the traffic to your website. So you diligently write articles and then spend hours posting them to Article Submission websites. “There must be a smarter way?” you think each time you submit your articles. There is! Let’s look at simple techniques to get the most out of the time you will be investing in article submissions.Organization Saves TimeCreate a simple spreadsheet to organize each submission. The spreadsheet should contain the following:

  • URLs for all submission websites
  • User names and passwords for each site
  • Submission format (text, HTML, hyperlink URLs, etc.)
  • Submission date

Prep Your ArticleMost submission sites allow HTML coding, so spend the time to code your article before you start your submissions. Other sites post warnings that copying and pasting directly from Word will cause the article to be improperly formatted. Be sure you have a text version (created in Notepad) available. A few select sites require you to code the carriage returns into your article. Again, having a text file with HTML tags ready and waiting makes the submission process flow smoothly.

Know the RulesHere are some simple Do’s and Don’ts to help increase your success as a self-publisher.

Do’s

1.Always read the submission criteria before submitting your article. 2.Format your article to 60-65 characters/line when submitting to announcement lists or by email. 3.Use proper English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization and sentence structure. 4.Make time to manually submit articles. Most automated article submission services are frowned upon in the publishing industry.

Don’ts

  1. Do not write solo ads: You’re here to share your knowledge. No sales pitches allowed.
  2. Do not include affiliate links: Again, education is the goal, not sales.
  3. Do not submit more than one article per week: Most publishers receive thousands of articles daily. If you submit more than 1 article per week, chances are, your second submission will be discarded.

Remember: You don’t have to go it alone. If you’re overwhelmed by the writing or submission process, hire help.

How I Write Articles For Profit

By: Steve Shaw

Most Internet marketers worth their salt know how effective articles can be to generate promotion for their web sites. The major problem for many is simply writing the article.
This article shows you the exact steps I usually take to construct an article to achieve maximum publicity for my web site. By following this model you will be able to do the same quickly and easily.

1. The Big Idea

The very first stage is to get the basic theme of your article. The inspiration for my own articles often comes to me when I am 'switched off' and doing something completely different.

The theme for your article should be closely linked to the theme of your web site, in order to attract targeted prospects.

2. Write The Title And Introduction

At first this is only a rough introductory paragraph or two, and I do not worry too much about the exact wording at this stage. My introductory paragraph(s) simply tell the reader what the article is about. I usually write my first idea of a title for the article at this point too.

3. Sketch Out The Content

I brainstorm the major points I want to cover, and write them down, one after the other. I do not worry about their order, my major concern is getting the ideas in my head down on paper. I may even write down the odd sentence or paragraph to back up each point.

Once I've got the basic outline, I look at the order of the points I am making, switch them around if necessary, and make sure I have written down everything I want to cover.

4. Fill In the Content

This is when the real meat of the article is written.

Each of the points I have briefly written down before need filling in. I need to explain what I mean, and go into further depth.

You should not fill your article with affiliate links to sites you want to promote, nor link to your own web site unless absolutely necessary. Publishers do not like it and many will ignore your article. If you want to link to a quality in-context resource, link to the main web site URL instead. You get ample chance to link to your own web site via the resource box at the end of the article (more details below).

Also do not make any part of your article sound like an advert. Publishers are looking for quality articles that will be appreciated by their subscribers, not solo ads for your web site. You have plenty of room to link to your own web site in the resource box.

For the maximum chance of your article getting published, you are looking at an ideal length of around 800 words. I would also ensure it is not less than 600 words, or more than 1000 words – although I must admit I do occasionally write longer ones.

Remember at first this is just a draft. I never expect it to be perfect straight away – I just get my words down and my points across. Once I have got the main body of the article in place, I go back over it and revise as necessary until I am happy with the content.

5. Write Your Resource Box

Many authors struggle with this part, but there really is no need.

The resource box goes right at the end of your article, and provides some information about the author. Think about the reader of the article – they want to know more about who wrote the article.

I include a bit of information about myself, and provide a link to one of my web sites that has some relevance to the article. Ideally a resource box should be brief and contain just two or three sentences. For an example, see the resource box at the end of this article.

Some authors attempt to cram the resource box with more than one link. Rather than achieving more promotional power from their article, it actually has the reverse effect by turning off the publisher, who may have otherwise published your article, and confusing the reader.

6. Leave It Alone

In my experience, this is the most essential stage. I save my article and leave it completely alone for at least a couple of days. So many people are impatient and do not do this, but I find it to be essential in boosting my chances of publication.

The idea is that you come back to it with completely fresh, but critical, eyes. This works like magic for helping to transform a fairly mediocre article with low chances of publication, to a high quality article that is more likely to get picked up by a large number of publishers and reward you with a flood of publicity.

7. The Final Edit

I open up my article again and read it. I usually spot parts of my article that do not flow very well, paragraphs that can be improved or condensed, sentences with words missing, and typos. This is where I polish up my article and ensure it all flows really well.

I have seen many articles that have obviously never gone through this stage, and they will only have a very slim chance of publication. Some minor editing would have improved them immensely. It really is worth that extra bit of effort to get your article up to scratch, otherwise all your hard work in writing the article will be wasted.

Best Places To Submit Your Articles For Viral Traffic Generation

By: Terence Tan
This article from The Mender (Issue 38),
Metamend's Web Site Optimization and Marketing Newsletter. If you've spent any time online trying to promote your website or business, you must have very likely realized that one of the most effective ways to generate tons of free targeted web traffic on a long term basis is to write your own informative articles and freely distribute them to other webmasters and ezine publishers for their use. Some of the benefits of this amazing strategy include:

-It's totally FREE and gets links to your website distributed to a huge number of other related websites on a permanent basis. No need to pay for the links… no need to give a return link on your own website to other sites.

-The presence of your links in many other websites also directly increases your Google PageRank and increases the targeted free traffic you get from search engines!

-When people see your name and website/company in the bylines of the articles on different sites, you will naturally be thought of as an "expert" in that field… This increases your credibility and makes it more likely that your visitors will take your recommendations to them more seriously.

The purpose of this article is to seek to create a comprehensive list of places where writers can submit their articles for distribution. By creating this list based on the contributions and "tip offs" of the visitors to HugeAffiliates.com, we hope to save you the large amounts of time searching the web for websites and article announcement services. (Yes, you can try to use google to search for "article submission sites" but you will waste precious time going through a lot of unrelated websites.)

If you find this useful, please bookmark it and use it whenever you have new articles to distribute. We will continue to update it with the latest links as we get "tip offs" from our visitors. If you have any links to suggest to us, please let us know using the "Contact Us" page on HugeAffiliates.com.

Beat Google’s Dampening Link Filter With SEO Articles

By: Glenn Murray Most Search Engine Optimization (SEO) experts agree that links back to your site have a great impact on your ranking in the major search engines. Think of it like an election; your site is a candidate and every link to your site is a vote. Of course, it was never quite that simple (high ranking, relevant sites have more voting power) but now it may have gotten even more complicated. The Dampening Link Filter It seems that Google may have introduced something called a “Dampening Link Filter” into its indexing algorithm. I’ll give you a layperson’s overview of this filter, but for more intimate details, check out http://www.webpronews.com/insiderreports/searchinsider/wpn-49-20050407GooglesNewLinkFilter.html#google. More and more people are realising the importance of links back to your site (or “backlinks”). For some time, companies have been engaging in all sorts of link campaigns designed to generate thousands of backlinks. Many of these campaigns haven’t really paid too much attention to the context or lifespan of these links. And Google knows it. Because these campaigns are designed to artificially generate the perception of a site’s importance – to trick the search engines into thinking they’re important – it’s been suggested that Google has decided to put an end to it. Apparently, there’s evidence to suggest that Google has introduced a new link filter to dampen the effect of new backlinks. So if your link generation campaign has just created 500 links in a day from seemingly irrelevant sites, Google will suspect it of being artificial, and refuse to pass on the full effect of those links – at least for a while. Well, that’s how the theory goes, anyway. It has been argued that you can avoid being penalized by this filter by generating links: • more slowly; • from relevant sites; and • which have a long lifespan. The wisdom of relevance and lifespan is already well established; the dampening filter is simply one more reason why people should start to heed it. Writing and submitting SEO articles for online publication is one way to do so. This article explains how SEO articles satisfy each of these three conditions. (For the basics of SEO article writing, take a look at http://www.divinewrite.com/seoarticles.htm.) Build Backlinks Slowly Writing quality articles takes time. It’s as simple as that. Even an SEO copywriter can’t just bang an article together in a morning – it has to be well considered. It must be accurate, informative, interesting, well written, and topical. And once you’ve written the article, the real work begins. You then have to submit it to your favourite article submit sites. And as they all have different requirements and idiosyncrasies, submitting your article to 50 submit sites can take you all day! Once submitted, even the best articles will only be published gradually. A good article can be published 2 or 3 times a day for a week or two, then interest tapers off. But still, over the course of 6 months a single good article can be published hundreds of times! And remember, each time is a link. Build Backlinks From Relevant Sites As soon as you choose the topic of your article, you define the type of site that will publish it. All online publishers have an agenda; they want to generate traffic. Whether for commercial or benevolent reasons, they want particular kinds of articles for very specific audiences. Your article won’t be published on irrelevant sites simply because the publishers of those sites get nothing out of it. Of course, your article may be published on sites that are only marginally relevant. For instance, this article may be published on general copywriting websites, advertising websites, web design websites, home business websites, etc. But the beauty of a well written SEO article is that you get to optimize it for the keywords that you want to rank for. So even if the keywords on the publishing site don’t quite match your own target keywords, the page containing your link (i.e. your article) does. What’s more, you even have the power to optimize the links themselves. For instance, as an SEO copywriter, I can distribute backlinks throughout my article that use my target keywords as the link text (e.g. copywriter, SEO copywriter, advertising copywriter, and website copywriter ;-) . Some submit sites don’t let you do this, but most will – at least in the byline. And one other thing – other people link to good articles. This can increase the Page Rank of the site containing your article, which, in turn, can increase the page rank of your own site. It’s a win-win situation! Build Backlinks With a Long Lifespan The quality of your SEO article determines the lifespan of your backlink. Write a very helpful article, make it easy to read, and choose a topic which isn’t going to go away in a hurry, and your article will stay online for years. In any event, most publishers tend not to clear out their article libraries simply because it’s better for them to have lots of content available to both readers and search engines. Conclusion While it’s no new phenomenon to SEO veterans and SEO copywriters, the writing of SEO articles to generate backlinks is a tactic which offers much in the way of ranking. The possibility of a Google dampening link filter simply increases the value of that offering. Happy writing! 14 Tips for Getting Your Articles Published More Often

By: Bill Platt

The writers who have learned the value of using free reprint articles as a promotional tool, go back to the well time and time again because it generates real results. Some writers have ended using all other methods of promotion because reprint articles work so very well.

It is a beautiful thing when one of my clients tell me that they need to stop article distributions for a spell because they are swamped with new business and need to have time to catch up. Of course, that is less money for now, but they will be back.

TIPS THAT WILL HELP YOU GET GREAT RESULTS WITH YOUR ARTICLES TOO

1. Teach, Dont Sell -

Article writers who generate a 1000 word sales pitch will not get the results they expect, if any at all. Publishers do not want to reprint sales pitches. They want to reprint articles that will teach or entertain their readers.

2. Tell an Interesting Story -

Just the other day, I saw an article in the lists that flat put me to sleep after two paragraphs. Did I finish the article? No. Do you think the article got republished? I doubt it. Did the article generate any traffic or sales? Not likely.

If you can capture the interest of readers and keep their interest through your whole message, you will have overcome the greatest challenge all writers face.

3. Trim Excessive Words -

Even I occasionally put together an article that should have had the excess baggage trimmed from it. One of my most printed articles ran 200 words longer on its first publication. On the first run, I received zero reprints. Trimmed and resent, the article has been published hundreds of times.

4. Select a Good Title -

A title should always catch the eye and tell the reader that it is an article they want to read. An article that is written well can fail to produce results if the title does not match the quality of the article.

5. White Space Management -

In newspapers and books, white space is not as important as it is when you are writing for the web. Short paragraphs are vitally important to keeping the interest of the reader. And extra white space to break up the ideas in an article are just as important.

Unless you can manage white space properly, reading on the web can be extremely difficult. The reasons for this are the smaller viewing area in electronic print, AND the eye strain that comes from looking at a monitor.

6. Highlighting Ideas in the Copy -

Some writers use a Numbered List like I am using here. This can generally produce good results. Better than a Numbered List is a Bulleted List with stars or dashes defining the different ideas.

Yes, I considered using a Bulleted List, but thought a Numbered List would be better for this particular article.

7. Highlighting Subtitles in the Copy -

Most articles I write do not fit the Numbered or Bulleted List scenarios. In those cases, I always use subtitles to differentiate my ideas. With subtitles, I either use ALL CAPS or Title Case for the subtitle. In most cases, I prefer using all caps for the subtitle to ensure that the title case subtitle is not mistook as standard body text.

8. Write an Effective Resource Box -

The Resource Box is otherwise referred to as your About the Author Information. When your reader reaches the end of the article, if you have done a good job in the body of the article, the reader will be interested in who you are and what you do.

Your goal is not to sell a product or service in your Resource Box. Your goal is to provide an intriguing biography that will entice the reader to actually visit your website URL.

9. Keep Your Resource Box Short -

The basic length restriction for your Resource Box is 9 lines by 65 characters.

Sure, you can put out a larger Resource Box, but the chances of getting published is greatly dimished if you spent too many words talking about yourself.

10. Leave Your Site URLs in the Resource Box -

You should always try to leave links to your website in the Resource Box and not in the body of the article. The only links that should appear in the body of your article are links to URLs where the reader can find additional documentation to support the basis of your article or where the reader can find additional tools or resources associated to the context of your article.

Your site URL is expected to be seen in your Resource Box. That is where it belongs.

11. Rules Governing Links to Your Site in an Article -

Many publishers and distribution list moderators believe that if you put your own links in the body of your article, then your article is simply an advertisement disguising itself as an article. Most publishers and distribution list moderators reject this type of offense out of hand without any recourse.

The only exception to this rule is when you are linking to a related resource on your website or providing a shorter-url redirect for another website.

Most publishers and distribution list moderators will check your on-site links to verify where they go.

12. End With a Solid Conclusion -

It is always good to conclude your article and wind everything up nicely. Sometimes we see bulleted list articles that would have done well, had they only told us that the article was over. When your reader gets to the end of the article and wonders where the ending is, then you will know that you have failed to reach your true potential.

13. Get Wide Distribution for the Articles You Publish -

Over time, you might be able to search out all of the resources available for distributing your article for free. There are literally thousands of them out there.

Figure out which ones have the widest possible reach and use those. Some places will never actually generate any reprints, so do be careful of your time. Make your assessments of a resources value over several uses, since not all articles will appeal to all publishers.

There are also services available that will help you to distribute your articles. If you search them out and use them, they can help you to spend more time writing and less time doing the tedious and time-consuming tasks of submission.

14. Persistance Is Your Most Valuable Tool -

A single article may not have the pulling power that either you or I think it will have. The marketplace is very fickle. Put yourself on a schedule to write one article a month or one article per week, and then follow through with your plans.

Four articles in the marketplace are more valuable than one. And, fifty articles are more valuable four.

The more articles you have in circulation, the more links you will have to your websites, and the greater a chance you will have to be reprinted and to generate new sales.

If you keep it up, in a few years you will find that you have become a household name and that people will seek you out to offer you new opportunities for real success.

IN CONCLUSION…

If you follow these tips and utilize them in your own articles, you will find that you will get published more often and gain greater results from the articles that you do write.

Good luck in your article writing endeavors.

Building Link Popularity with Topical Articles

By: Daria Goetsch
One of the important factors in ranking high in search engine results is link popularity. It is not enough to just have the best website in the world–other sites have to point back to you. The thought is that if your site is good enough for others to link to you, then you must have a great site.
How do I increase link popularity?

Building link popularity is hard work. You've searched endlessly. You've sent every reciprocal link email you can think of. What else can you do? Surprisingly, writing articles on your topic can lead you to a wealth of link popularity.

What are the benefits of writing articles? Think about it. If you write articles, you get to use them on your website and you build your website content. You can also submit your articles to other sites. With both methods you get a lot in return:

You build your content. More is better when it comes to site content.

You promote your website. With more keyword-rich text on more pages, you will increase the number of pages indexed by the search engines.

Other websites link back to your website content. Sites focused on related topics link back to you.

You receive a link back to your website from the site you submitted the article to. Remember to include a link in all guest articles you submit.

You become an authority on your topic. Search engines reward sites with a larger number of inbound links from sites dealing with similar topics.

What do I write articles about?

The saying goes "write about what you know." Sometimes it takes thinking in a creative way to open the door to a new route for link popularity success. Think of what your visitors might be looking for. Why do they come to your site? What can you help them with when they arrive on your website? Answer their questions about your topic. We all search to find information, so give them what they are looking for.

So what are they looking for? That is easy enough to find out. Review your web server logs to see what keywords and phrases your visitors are using when they find your site through the search engines. Run your own searches using those keywords. What kinds of sites are returned in the search engine listings? Pay attention to visitor feedback. Know your visitors. Answer the questions they are asking, or even those questions they do not know yet to ask.

Most importantly, write because you have something to say. If in the process of building your content and inbound links, you benefit your readers with your content, all the better in terms of providing visitor satisfaction. This is the best reason to write, which is the way of the web, to seek out and share information.

Where do you put articles?

On your site. The first and obvious answer is to put them on your site. After all, you have all this knowledge; why not share it with your visitors? You may want to create an Articles page on your site. This will give you a place to put your articles, and any new ones that you write. Make sure to add this new page into your site navigation, and especially to add it to your sitemap page. Add a link to your main articles page on your sitemap, and a link to each new article on your articles page, and you are on your way to having your good content indexed. Make sure your visitors and the search engine robots can find your new pages.

Adding article content not only answers your visitors' questions, it adds to your website. Your visitors will have a richer experience with your site when there is more content. Not only can they buy the widgets you are selling, but they can also learn more about how to select widgets, exciting news from the world of widgets, and so on.

The more pages you add to your website, the better chance the already visiting search engine robots will also pick up your new pages to be indexed. More pages mean more links. Be sure to make an archive of your articles on your website. Always keep your pages in directories close to the root of your site for optimum indexing by the search engine robots.

Submit to the search engines. As always you will want to submit your new pages to the mainstream search engines and directories. In addition, look for specialized, topical directories that deal with your particular subject. There are also many general business directories available.

Submit guest articles. In addition to submitting your articles to the various search engines and directories, think about submitting the articles themselves. Submit your articles to sites that accept guest articles. It may take a little detective work to find some of these locations. You can start small, submitting to lesser-known portals seeking information on your topic. Some sites are focused on one topic; others need articles about all sorts of topics. Get searching and you should be able to come up with a healthy list of sites to submit to. Searching in Google and in categories in Yahoo! and ODP (Open Directory Project/Dmoz) would be helpful.

Once you are featured as a guest writer on a website, you will notice that most sites archive these articles. How many articles can you write? How many articles are archived and linked? How many different search engines indexed those pages? You get the idea.

Always include a bio of the author, article re-print instructions, copyright information and a link back to your website. Add an active link in your link text in your submission or request one for your listing. Be aware of dynamically generated pages–a static URL also increases the chance that the article you have submitted has the optimum chance of indexing by the search engine robots.

What if I don't write?

What if writing is just not your thing? You are in luck, because there are sites out there that have free content and articles available to you. When you add them to your site, you still build the content on your website.

Legitimate links, no spam
The best part is that your new links are all legitimate and not just junk links. You add important information to your site, and that is good for your visitors and good for your image. Naturally, using your keyword phrases in your Title/META tags and the text of your articles as you would in your regularly optimized pages makes sense for good search engine ranking.

It will pay off

Be creative when writing articles and submitting your content for linking, it takes hard work but will be worth it in the long run.

How Article Marketing Will Make You a Fortune

By: Jeremy Hoover
Article marketing—the simple act of writing one 400 word article and submitting it to various sites—is the surprise online marketing medium of the past year. For a couple years, new marketers have been advised to promote their businesses by writing and distributing articles. This worked so well that recently article marketing has hit the mainstream. Sites like EzineArticles.com have helped to create perfect conditions for article marketing. Far from being an underground or little noticed way of marketing, article marketing has come into its own as a premier form of marketing. What’s best about this marketing form is that by and large it’s free to use. Simply write an article, do a little research to discover a premium list of article sites and email groups, submit your articles, and you’re done!

But what exactly does article marketing do?

1. Article marketing establishes you as an expert.
Your goal as an article marketer is to write several articles per week (usually 3-5) about the niche target your business serves. At this rate, over the course of a year you will have written between 150-250 articles. By the time you have written this many articles, you will know your subject or niche inside-out, and it will show! Any person who reads one of your articles and finds their way to your other articles or your business site will feel comfortable with you as an expert because of your knowledge.

2. Article marketing helps you rank well with the search engines.
Because you are posting each article on your own website and on numerous other websites, you are providing search engines with a number of paths back to your business site. When the search engines find your main site, they will keep returning. When you continue to update your site, your articles will be indexed, and as more and more searchers find your site via the search engines, your ranking will go up. All these factors help you to place better in the search engines.

3. Article marketing gives you a lot of exposure.
One of the best features of article marketing you want to tap in to comes from the article sites themselves. They exist to allow publishers and webmasters with information for their sites. When a publisher finds your article on such a site, she can reprint your article on her site or in her ezine. This clearly benefits you—the more times your article is reprinted, the more exposure you get.

If you only do one thing to market your business the rest of this year, make sure it is article marketing!

15 Commandments To Submitting Articles – Article Submission

By: Martin Lemieux
15 Commandments To Submitting Articles – Article Submission Sites By: Martin Lemieux1) Don't use all capitals in your title:

People don't like to be yelled at. USING CAPITALS is the same as yelling and looks awful. There aren't many article submission sites that accept ALL capitals in your title.

2) Only use HTML when asked:

There is nothing worse for an editor when he/she has to strip out HTML because you failed to follow the guidelines. If the website asks for NO HTML then don't add any.

3) Only use simple HTML:

If you are allowed to use HTML, just use the basics. Ex. (P)aragraph, (B)old, (I)talicized, (LI)st bullets, (A)link, etc. These HTML codes are considered basic and are usually accepted when submitting your article in HTML format.

4) Don't use articles to advertise your services within the content:

There is nothing worse than reviewing an article and seeing 5/10 links that are owned by the author embedded within the content of the article. Granted, sometimes you have something unique to help others with and you need to get the word out, I like to see such promotion but ONLY if it is useful for the readers and it is FREE, not a paid service or product. Try not to use this unique information within every single article that you write. This info will then become a little useless for the editors and they may even delete that section. Please remember to READ the "Author Guidelines" before you start submitting your articles.

5) Don't submit press releases as tips:

There is a distinct difference between a press release and an informative article. Press releases are strictly for announcing news about your company. Informative articles teach people about a specific subject (not about your company).

6) Have your articles edited by editors:

These days, there are so many authors trying to make their mark. It is imperative that you get your article edited by an editor, friend, colleague, or someone who is really good at checking for spelling and grammar.

7) Try to write something unique to the industry:

People all over the world are writing about the same thing. If you truly want to shine, try writing about topics that aren't covered by everyone. If you discover something new, do some research on what people are saying about it. If you can't find any other content, you may have found a gold mine.

8) Don't copy other people's content:

This topic is seriously funny. We have caught people actually stealing our articles and simply changing the title of the article to call it their own. How pathetic! If you use someone else's content, only use it for study, not for your own promotion and recognition. If you "quote" someone else, make sure to give credit where appropriate.

9) Find 5 new article submission sites to submit to:

If you submit articles once a week, try and make it a habit to find 5 new article submission sites to submit to. I guarantee you that new article submission websites popup almost weekly. We are still finding new sites to submit to, there is no limit to your search. Go within Google and do a search similar to "article submission sites", or "Where to submit articles to?".

Here are 5 newer article submission sites:

9.1) http://www.article99.com 9.2) http://www.a1articles.com 9.3) http://www.activeauthors.com 9.4) http://www.articlepros.com 9.5) http://www.free-articles-zone.com

10) Keep your author bio short & sweet:

Try keeping your author biography short & sweet. There is nothing worse than seeing an article submission and realizing that most of the article content is within the author bio. Use one sentence and a couple of links. Most submission sites will accept up to 3 links within your resource box.

11) Don't buy articles from other companies and call them your own:

Commandment #11 is sweeping the world and is giving the article writing industry a bad name. Please don't even consider buying articles from people that claim that they will write a "UNIQUE" article for you to promote. Trust me when I tell you this, the article that you buy has been sold and re-sold many times. You will be doing your company no justice at all by buying articles. Article submission websites frown down on this method and will ban you from ever submitting articles again if you are caught.

12) Try not to attack others within your articles:

Being libelous is not good karma. Attacking others will give a negative effect for your articles. In fact, most article submission websites won't accept articles that are libelous.

13) Use copyright information at the bottom of your article:

Adding your copyright information at the top won't help you at all. I've come across many websites that simply delete your copyright information if it is listed at the top. That's what your author bio is for. Add any reprint rights and copyright information within your bio.

14) Affiliate links should never be used:

DO NOT USE AFFILIATE LINKS PERIOD! Promoting affiliate links within articles is a no no. Most article submission websites have a rule against listing affiliate links within author's articles (body content) and your author bio. If you absolutely need to use an affiliate link, try creating a "short link" that simplifies the link into a smaller, more compact link.

15) Setup For Manual Submissions:

Most link submission softwares aren't the answer. There is nothing better than personalizing your submissions by submitting them manually. Granted, this can take up to 2-4 hours per week if you write one article a week BUT submitting manually will get your article listed within two times as many article submission websites than the software's can. Many websites require a login or show you an image to "enter the characters shown" to login and submit articles. By using a software, you will never be able to submit to such companies.

Many article submission websites have different and unique fields that they require for you to enter. If you use a software, you will never have that personal touch that each individual website & editor is looking for and your articles will never be accepted.

If you follow these commandments, you should have no problem getting your articles listed on 1000's of websites and get a great deal of promotion for your company.

Keep writing and keep submitting!

TurboCharge Your Site With Article Writing

By: Titus Hoskins
Writing articles related to your site's topic and syndicating these articles all over the web is a very effective way of marketing your site. This simple, yet effective marketing strategy will deliver targeted visitors, increase your rankings and boost your sales. In essence, article writing will 'TurboCharge' your site!

Although it sounds more like a catch-phrase from a marketer's hype-fest, its the most appropriate phrase to describe the effect article writing will have on your web site. It perfectly sums up the major benefits of article marketing.

Article writing will quickly:

* boost one-way links to your site * help you brand your name or site * help sell or pre-sell your products * bring in plenty of targeted traffic * give you and your site more creditability

The effects can sometimes be jarring…

One minute, your site is humming along at its regular pace, then suddenly, you check your web logs and your stats has doubled or even tripled. There is a massive flood of visitors coming to your site. Sometimes, it may only be one site which picks up your article and features it in their ezine, bringing in targeted visitors to your site. Other times, it may be many sites and ezines displaying your articles, causing a large influx of guests to your site.

All of the above has happened to me!

First, some background, I had heard other marketers sing the praises of article writing for so long I decided to do a test-run and see the proof for myself. Writing over 30 articles since January of this year, I kept track of my results over this six month period – to view these articles and find out where some of them ended up, just google my name "TITUS HOSKINS".

Finding and researching material for articles was not a problem. Online forums, subscribers' questions, and my own marketing tasks were a great source of ideas. Compiling and writing original articles that would stand out from the crowd was the hard part.

Here are some pointers that I learned about article writing that may also help you:

Find the Right Title – Choosing the right title will make or break your article, keep it short and put the main benefit of your article in your title, i.e. what will readers actually acquire from reading your article?

Keep Your Article Short and Concise – If you want your article to be pick up by ezines and placed on sites, keep it short (300-1200 Words) and to the point. I find articles in the 700 – 900 word range do very well, longer articles less so.

Do A Spell and Grammar Check – Use a spell-checker or WordPerfect to check your articles. I also use Google as my proof reader. Not sure of a word or phrase, just Google it!

Resource Box – Like the title, you must point out the benefits of clicking your links in your resource box which is displayed at the end of your article. Offering a free ecourse or ebook I found will improve your 'click thru rate'. Newsletter subscriptions also works. If you're keyword marketing, place your keyword or phrase in the anchor text of your resource box links. Google will reward you handsomely for this simple little detail. So will the other search engines.

Be Unique – Find your own voice. Be distinctive. Make yourself and your site stand out. But don't go overboard, writing concise, informative and helpful articles will bring enough interest and attention to your site. Narrowing and focusing in on one subject area will eventually make you an expert on that topic or subject.

Syndicating your Articles – Online article directories are very good for this. Listed below are the major ones I use to get my articles 'out there'.

www.goarticles.com www.ezinearticles.com www.ideamarketers.com www.articleally.com www.articlemarketer.com

Simple tracking tips, if you want to check the performance of difference article directories – just make a minor change in your article as you place it in each directory. Then as your article is spread around the web – you can check its source. To find out just how far your articles have traveled, just place your article's title between quotation marks and Google it…like this: "TurboCharge Your Site With Article Writing"

My experiences with article writing were very beneficial to me. I was a little surprised at the high quality sites picking up and displaying my articles: addme, sitepronews, thetechzone, bonafidereviews, wwwcoder, buzzle, icemelon, devshed… and many more.

It has tripled my site's links since January, Google indexed my site and started sending significant traffic my way. My traffic according to Alexa, is under 50,000 many weeks – my site even made it into the top 15,000 for a very short while. Those spikes in traffic also means more subscribers and more sales. I recently had over 200 subscribers to my ezine in one day – my site normally receives around 5-10 new subscribers each day.

I also found more people 'bookmarked' my site – resulting in more long term targeted traffic. My affiliate sales have increased, and since my page views are up, my Google Adsense earnings have also increased. I also believe article writing has helped in branding my site and also giving myself more creditability.

In fact, my results have been so positive, I feel a 'disclaimer' coming on! Your results will vary according to your skill, effort and resources but article marketing is one of the best free marketing strategies you will ever have at your disposal. If you try only one new marketing technique this year, make it article writing.

So go ahead, give your site the boost it deserves, 'TurboCharge' it with some of your best writing and experience the effects for yourself. Buckle up and both hands on the wheel!

Five Benefits of Article Writing

By: Nicholas Dixon
By Nicholas Dixon http://WWW.Oceanroc.blogspot.comA few years ago as a webmaster with no money, I looked around for the best free methods to drive traffic to my website.

Search engines were my primary source of traffic and due to the fact that this source took time to gain momentum, visitors were in spurts at best. Then I found a powerful technique that I could use to boost my marketing efforts for free.

These are some benefits that I have gain from writing articles.

1) Name Branding- If you type "Oceanroc' or my name in any search engine you will likely find hundreds if not thousands of returns. If you look at bit closer chances are those search results are pages which contain my articles.

2) Link Popularity- Last October I started a website Oceanroc.com and by April of this year it had a PR5 rating. Articles are the main source of the one way links pointing to my website.

3) Traffic- If I write an article that is interesting, then the reader may click on my link in the resource box to visit my site to find similar content. Imagine being on websites and in newsletters with lots of readers and think about how many traffic you could get.

4) Prestige- Up to a few months ago I was a Platinum writer over at Ezinearticles.com, the 1000 lb. gorilla of article sites. Heck I lost my status because of an affiliate link, so now I am down to Expert status. Seeing your writing being published especially without you submitting it to that source helps to reassure that you are a quality writer.

5) Free Advertising- I have had my ads placed for free in places that normally would have cost me hundreds of dollars. My resource box is my ad spot and publishers are required to include it if they use one of my articles. The resource box is the medium through which you generate traffic from you articles.

If it was not for article writing I don't think that I would receive some of the Joint Venture offers that I get. And the thing is that many writers share these same benefits. And there are even more…….

Reward Those Who Publish Your Articles
By: Martin Lemieux

It is pretty obvious that content is king online. It is also obvious
that writing more content and submitting them to other sites will help
boost your popularity and bring more visitors to your site.

So why wouldn't you help boost those pages that have your articles on them?

I want to share a small tip that will help boost your articles popularity
all over the world.

See, most of us who do write articles are mainly concerned about getting
their articles published. Well why wouldn't you reward those who publish
your articles?

I am consistently finding ways to boost pr ratings for ALL of my pages
within my site, you should be too. If we are all trying to do this, then
why don't we help boost our articles on other sites!

Here's an example of this…

I have an article titled:
"Getting A Better Rank For All Your Pages"

Now simply listing this article on my site isn't enough. I also promote and
submit this article wherever I can. If by chance a web site publishes my
article, I will reward that site by adding a link on my site were that
article is listed.

Infact, if you've seen my marketing tip articles, there is a small resource
box at the bottom of each article that links to all the sites that have
listed that specific article. Being more specific, I don't link to their
main page, I link to my article.

Here's what that accomplishes…

Let's say your article is listed on "Artices R Us" and you want your
article to be found by anyone who searches for that company, boosting your
pr rating for your article on "Articles R Us" will help you get more
visitors from that site.

See, it's not only about listing your articles because we would all like to
have our articles found right away and 1st. Don't miss the chance to gain
more visitors by letting your article die out on the site that you listed
it in.

What if all your articles listed on other sites, had a pr rating in google
of (pr4) or more? That would be great!

That would be great because we all know that Google rewards your link
popularity when listed in a page that is pr4 or more!

So don't be shy to reward those who list your articles, doing so will only
boost your search engine ranking and also give you a lot more visitors than
before!

The Right Articles to Write for the Internet

By: Susan Dunn, Internet Marketing Coach and Cons
Writing articles for the Internet is one of the most effective marketing tools available. Writing and submitting articles to article banks accomplishes many important things for you:1.It drives qualified leads to your website.People who arrive at your website via a link in the byline (or signature line, or resource box) of your article are what is called “pre-qualified.” It isn’t random. They are already interested in you and what you have to offer. This is advertising “gold”.

2.It establishes you as an expert.

The written word still has clout. When people read articles by you repeatedly on the Internet, they come to know you as the expert you are in your field.

3.It defines a niche for you.

Articles associate you with a certain subject matter. You can’t be everything to everybody. You need a niche. (Important point: You may in actuality do many things, as I do, but to market, you need a niche.)

4.It’s repeat and endless advertising.

My articles show up in the most amazing places. Recently I walked into a real estate office and there was one of my articles in their regional magazine. Articles in article banks and on websites stay around indefinitely. Someone has just written me they’ll be using three articles I wrote about spring activities for families over 3 years ago. You write the article once and the reach – in space and time – are unbelievable. They have a shelf life longer than Strontium 90, if that means anything to you. Lazy advertising, yes?

5.It increases your link popularity.

Each of those bylines contains a link to your website, and each time your article is used on another website, you’ve appeared there. Among the complicated methods search engines use for placement, link popularity is the most comprehensible.

Furthermore, people will start writing you asking to exchange links.

IMPORTANT TIP: Be sure and demand that if they use your article, links be “activated on the Internet.” Otherwise, you don’t register with the search engines.

6.Increases search engine placement.

I have made it to #3 under “personal coach” on google, an extremely difficult feat, eclipsing people who’ve been there much longer. It’s hard to bump long-standing people. I’ve done this without spending a dime. Let me show you how to do it with Internet articles and a few tricks of the trade.

7.It increases your knowledge and your ability to communicate about your specialty.

Especially if you offer a service, and are professional and serious about it, as I am, writing articles makes you grow professionally. It is entirely true that you don’t really know something until you teach it, and that’s what you’re doing.

If you’re serious about your work, writing about it keeps you on the leading edge. You have to keep researching new topics and learning more, and then developing new ways to communicate about it. This is good for you! OK?

WHAT TO WRITE ABOUT

So, within your given field, or consistent with your products, what do you write about?

I recently reviewed the hundreds of articles I have on one article-bank site which tells you how many “visits” each article has gotten.

And BTW, you MUST do this kind of “market research.” Don’t just write, click and send; analyze! www.ideamarketers.com tells you how many people have visited each article. Take the time to go over this data every several months. Then the formula is simple: win-stay, lose-shift.

If many people have visited the article, write more like it, and vice versa.

Now here’s the tricky part. The single most popular article I’ve written is – are you ready for this? – “Emotional Intelligence and the Gentle Art of Conversation.” (http://www.ideamarketers.com/library/article.cfm?articleid=18584&wherefrom=LOGIN )

What do you make of this? That question – “What do you make of this?” must always be your TOOL in marketing. Is it the title that’s appealing? Of course, Emotional Intelligence is a very hot topic, but I’ve written hundreds with that in the title. It must be the other part – the gentle art of conversation. Who knew?

In fact I was asked to be on a radio show, and was also interviewed for a national newspaper as a result of this article.

I’m sorry to say I’m not the genius who knew ahead of time that “conversation” would be a hot topic. I hadn’t a clue. I was just anticipating the holidays and wondering what people might be thinking about. I know family get-togethers can be trying … and a bit of formal conversation can make the occasion more pleasant and less likely to degenerate into turf wars and old-wound licking.

When the newspaper reporter called me to interview me about “dinner table conversation,” I was truly amazed at the questions she asked. I grew up being schooled in the gentle art of conversation. Evidently it’s one of those things that got lost along the way. Through her questions, I formed ideas for many more articles.

TAKE HOME POINT: Figure out what’s popular and why, and do more of it.

FURTHER TRICKY POINT: This website tells you which articles were VISITED, not necessarily used. Take this into account. For instance, catchy titles will definitely get someone to look.

My second and third most popular articles are “An Emotionally Intelligent Workplace Culture: Is It for You?” and “What’s Going on with Mobbing, Bullying and Work Harassment Internationally.” Since I write many articles for individuals, and social and relational applications of emotional intelligence, this is valuable information for me. The workplace may be a better focus for my work. And the Internet is becoming a smaller world. I do international work. I’m glad it’s becoming popular.

The fourth most popular article is also amazing. Never – NEVER – underestimate the public. While we are told that people on the Internet are idiots with short attention spans who want their articles written at the 8th grade level, my fourth most popular article is entitled, “Special Report: What Do IQ Tests and the SAT Measure, and Where Does EQ Fit In?” That’s not pabulum!

Tricky part about marketing, part II: Could it be the use of “special report” that got them to access this article? It sure could be. It’s the latest buzz word in business, along with “white paper”, so why not use it? I did, and either it alone, or an intriguing topic that raised the bar, or both, made this article a winner.

Coming in at number 5, “The Top 10 ‘Hurtin’ ‘ Breakup Songs.” Love and heartache. The dynamic duo that never fails. If there’s anything that’s part of the human condition, it’s that. This placed far above the other two in the series – the getting-over-it love songs, and the “I’m so in love” love songs.”

Yes, “love” will always place high on our readers’ lists. Number 6 is “10 Emotionally Intelligent Questions to Ask Before You Marry.”
This one, BTW, has been popular in other countries besides the US, and was featured in a magazine in India. The editor told me it would sell because his readers were interested in avoiding the marriage of convenience, or arranged marriage, and wanted to make their own romantic and reasoned choice of a partner.

If you can write about relationships, dating, and romance, you should do well. Nearly half the adults in the US are now single, and they’re looking. The success of such sites as eharmony.com should give you a clue.

Number 9 on my list is also romantic: “Some Tips About the Wedding Toast.”

HOLIDAYS

Topical articles are a good idea. Editors will be looking for articles around Thanksgiving, Christmas, Mother’s Day, Super Bowl, etc. I did something on guys grilling for Super Bowl that got placed on the splash page of a site that brought my services to the attention of a whole new crowd, and that’s what you want: exposure!

And what’s the #1 holiday? Christmas? Nope, guess again. My articles around Valentine’s Day were accessed far more often. It’s the love thing again, I guess. At any rate, if you can work Valentine’s Day into your products and services, do it, and write those articles.

TIPS

1.Suggested length: 900 – 1200 appears to sell best but there’s also a market for short, pithy “fillers” of say, around 300 words.

2.Use an article-submission service ( http://www.webstrategies.cc ) .

The most labor-intensive part is submitting the articles.

3.Use an article-writing service -
http://www.webstrategies.cc .

Commission them to write articles for you, and about you. As I say in my ebook, “How to Write Articles for the Internet,” ( http://www.webstrategies.cc/wsearticle.html ) this amounts to 3rd-party endorsement which is highly effective.

Placing among my top ten most popular articles is one I was commissioned to write entitled, “An Interview with an Expert on Introversion.” This article has brought the IntrovertzCoach lots of business!

4.Commission the article written by a writer with a reputation on the Internet.

Their name will carry the article and get it noticed, whereas yours might not. For instance, I am rated “A+” on www.ideamarketers.com, so article-searchers know to look for my stuff. They know they’ll find quality, and their time is short.

5.Don’t be afraid to raise the bar.

Sometimes a marketing client will tell me “the stuff on the Internet isn’t very good.” Yes, in some cases that’s true, but that doesn’t mean your “stuff” can’t be “good.” I repeat: Never underestimate the public. Placing among my top 20 is “Corporate Ethics, Your Ethics, Intentionality & Emotional Intelligence.” You almost need a dictionary to get through the title, and it isn’t any easier once you get to the article. And it’s about ETHICS!!

We folks here on the Internet are good, smart, ready and willing to learn. Give us some substance!

Why 95% Of Articles Are Useless For SEO Marketing

By: Dave Ryan
Many webmasters submit articles about their respective niches to gain incoming links from other webmasters in their niche or a related subject matter, but 95% of them are doing it WRONG!When you are writing an article for your niche to be used by other webmasters you need to optimize it for them. Remember, they are who you are writing the articles for; why would you want to give them junk that wont help them draw in customers? If you write articles that don't help out the webmasters who use it, odds are that they will choose not to use your future articles. The key to writing strong articles is simple, provide the content that they want for their site. Many authors will just write about the topic but not consider how well it will perform on others sites, and this is a fatal error. You need to use simple search engine optimization (SEO) tactics in your articles to get the best response from your articles. You need to help increase their page rank, be it on Google, MSN, Yahoo or any other search engine. If you optimize your articles in this way webmasters will definitely want to use your articles, not only that but are a lot more likely to check in on your future articles and use them as well.

So what are the search engine optimization (SEO) tactics you can use in your articles? Keywords, keywords, keywords. Now packing your article full of the related keywords will only do so much and it may actually deter webmasters from using your articles if the content isn't worth reading to a visitor. There are some simple to use guidelines for using keywords though, that if implemented will increase your syndication rate by leaps and bounds.

Headings, such as your title, will have greater search engine weight than the content in the article. So try to build your title around the niche using related keywords. The title is the #1 thing that will make or break your articles syndication so make sure to focus it on the niche and be creative. Remember your title not only draws in webmasters to use your article, it also draws in people to their site to read it. The more people you draw to their site the more likely they are to pick up your next article.

Bold content, relative to the article, will have a greater search engine weight than the normal text. This is powerful as it allows you to make certain words stick out to the reader, and the search engine spiders. Use this to emphasize key points, but be careful not to over use it as it will look lame and will drive off readers.

Check out article content sites such as E-Biz Articles to see how well crafted articles dominate over poorly constructed ones. There are a lot of article submission sites out there and they all want one thing, quality content for webmasters to use. So please don't submit articles that are not directly focused on the niche as it will be less likely to get syndicated and could wreck a webmasters site if it is automatically posted there(through RSS). Not only that but they will be a lot less likely to post your next article to their site. Always remember, your writing for webmasters. Provide them with quality and they will provide you with a syndicated article spot on their site AKA the golden feed for an article writer.

Distributing Reprint Articles for the Best Results

By: Bill Platt
There are many writers who are utilizing article distribution services to get articles published in ezines and newsletters and on websites. These articles always have a link back to the website of the writer in the article's Resource Box — the About the Author information which typically follows an article. This has always been one of the best methods a webmaster could use to generate web traffic to his or her site.THE ECONOMIC VALUE OF DISTRIBUTING ARTICLES

When comparing the cost of preparing an article and distributing it to publishers and webmasters, your overall articles costs are still really small… Especially when you compare that cost against the cost of buying advertising in the same ezines, newsletters and websites that will publish your article. On top of that, when a website publishes an article that you wrote, the article will usually remain on the website for years to come. But, when you buy an ad for your business at a website, you need to pay that advertising rate every single month for as long as your want your ad to remain on that website.

When you want to measure the effectiveness of an article, you should measure the cost of advertising in the ezines and newsletters where you were published, plus the cost of advertising on the websites where your article was reprinted.

If you invest the time and effort to calculate the value of the advertising earned from a reprint article versus the cost of creating and distributing that article, you will quickly realize why so many people recommend this promotional technique.

TRAFFIC IS A TWO-SIDED COIN WITH REPRINT ARTICLES

When we first got into writing articles for promotional purposes, we were entirely focused on getting our articles published in ezines and newsletters. The all-important link back to your site can reach thousands of publishers, and through the publishers, you can quite possibly reach millions of readers. And these are not just ordinary readers either; they are members of YOUR target audience.

The ezines and newsletters that will publish your articles have already told their readers that they will be providing information on the topics that you have written about. And, the readers have all taken a pro-active step to add their email address to the mailing list of the ezine that is publishing your work.

While most ezines have a subscriber base in the range of ten to twenty thousand, there are still some really large ezines with subscribers in the hundreds of thousands out there that will be happy to share your materials with their readers.

These days, it is all about the search engines. Webmasters want to add fresh content to their websites regularly, so they can improve their search engine traffic. And, writers want to see their articles on third-party websites, so that they can build their link popularity and improve their own search engine positioning.

THE NATURE OF GETTING YOUR ARTICLES IN EZINES AND WEBSITES

Once, you have taken the time and effort to create your reprint articles, you will want to send them to the largest number of publishers and webmasters who have expressed an interest in publishing what you have written.

Many writers who are just getting started will try to do all of the distribution work themselves. They will search high and low to find the sites that accept reprint articles and they will look for the article distribution mailing lists that other writers are using. Then, they will commence the task of distributing their articles to the various sites and lists that accept reprint articles.

The entire process can be very time-consuming and frustrating for the writer. Most lists will only permit you to distribute your articles if you are willing to accept other writer's articles as well. If you find yourself subscribed to one of the bigger mailing lists, you could legitimately get hundreds of articles a day dropped into your mailbox. Add to this the fact that most writers are subscribed to up to seven different distribution lists, and then that one hundred articles a day could become seven hundred articles per day. Some people want out of the distribution lists the day after they start.

Then you have the added challenge of remembering what the posting rules are for each mailing list that you will join. Pushing the rules to the side and forging ahead could get you banned from participation in many of the article distribution lists.

Keeping everything straight and muddling through all of the incoming messages is tough enough for the average marketer. But, then you add the challenge of getting your article into the article databases that offer reprint articles to publishers. Each article archive directory generally requires for you to login and to follow their unique posting rules to get your articles into their database. This requires even more of the writer's time.

Most writers end up making some type of compromise in order to get their articles distributed. They will either set aside half a day to a full day for the distribution of a single article, or they will limit their distribution range to the mailing lists and article sites that make it easy for them to accomplish the greatest results in the least amount of time.

What many writers fail to realize is that some of the article distribution lists where they are trying to submit articles, are not accepting their articles. Others aren't accepting anyone's articles and haven't done so since 2000. Some are still accepting articles, but only from those people who were approved for unlimited posting privileges prior to the disappearance of the list moderator some time ago. These writers, who already feel pressed for time, are wasting more precious time submitting articles to lists and reprint article directories that are not accepting their article submissions.

SOMETIMES IT MAKES SENSE TO EMPLOY A SERVICE PROVIDER

There are a handful of well-established and experienced distribution services that can get your article to multiple publishers with very little time investment on your part. The distribution services will do this for a small fee and send your article to targeted publishers of ezines, newsletters and websites. Rates vary from service to service.

Many writers use a number of article distribution services to distribute their articles. The reason is that all services use SOME of the same distribution outlets, but all services also have unique outlets not available to the other service providers.

The writers who use a number of services do so to increase the overall reach of their articles, to maximize their results.

THE CHANGING MARKETPLACE

Recently there have been a number of new distribution services popping up who claim to be able to distribute your articles to publishers at a lower cost. These new distributors are offering bargain basement rates such as $40 for three months and unlimited article submissions. Sounds like a great deal right? Well there are a number of problems with using a cheap service such as this.

The primary problem with these cheap service providers is that you will put all of your articles into their database at your convenience. Then, the service will turn around and distribute all of the articles you have put into their database, on the same day that you put them into their database.

Here is the problem. Nearly every article distribution mailing list in existence has a limit of one or two article submissions per writer per day limit.

Suppose for example that you put 100 articles into the service's database in the same day. Then the cheap distribution service will turn around and send all 100 of your articles to the article distribution mailing lists on that same day. Your first or second article may get full distribution. Your next 98 articles will be deleted from the groups without ever having been posted. And, you will likely find yourself banned from future participation in the article distribution groups.

So, if you think that you are saving money by using a bargain basement newcomer, you really aren't. That $40 you spent will only get two of your articles into circulation. The other 98 articles you put into the cheap service's database will never reach beyond that service's website.

PROFESSIONALS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

A major article distribution company understands the intricacies of the world of article publishing, whereas a cheap newcomer is simply looking to make a quick buck off of you.

If you want your articles and links to reach the targeted publishers and targeted audiences that would be interested in purchasing your goods or services, then you should seriously consider spending a little more money to use a well established distributor from the outset. This will also save you the time and hassle of posting articles that will never see the light of day.

In the end, you want the best bang for your buck.

Sometimes the best bang for your buck requires that you spend a little more money upfront. With an established and experienced article distribution company, you might just find that you can get better results from each article, and you will still have an audience for your articles two weeks or two years from now.

You can make the most of your advertising when you use an article distribution company who will put your needs first — always keeping in mind what will help YOU to generate the best results for your investment.

Your numbered lists will help you to effectively share your tips with your readers while making your article easy to read.

Use your numbered lists to share points on your article's topic, list your directions when writing a how to article, or to deliver the content of your article if you wanted to write a list article.

You can also use numbered lists to share resources related to what you talk about in your article along with your descriptions of those resources.

With the active voice the subject does the action while with the passive voice the subject receives the action expressed by the verb.

Active voice: The dog bit the mailman. Passive voice: The mailman was bitten by the dog.

Use the active voice to keep your sentences from being awkward or confusing and to liven up your article.

6. Make your writing more personal by using the word "you" a lot within your article.

A simple way to accomplish this is to write your article to one person.

You'll naturally use the word "you" a lot within your article, and your readers will feel like you're talking directly to them.

7. Don't be afraid to share your personality with your readers.

You could inject a little bit of humor into your article, or share an opinion, story or anecdote that relates to the topic of your article.

8. Offer a subscription to your e-zine or a freebie in your resource box.

Writing articles will help you to get your site promoted on relevant sites and e-zines at no cost to you.

Maximize the profit you get from writing your articles by giving your readers a subscription to your e-zine, or a freebie that they'll find valuable enough to go back to again and again.

9. Once you've written your article, wait a couple of days, and then reread your article.

You might be able to add new points that you might have missed before, add more detail to information you covered in your article, or reword parts of your article that are unclear.

10. Use current topics whether online or in the "real world" to get ideas for your articles.

Your articles will be cutting edge and newsworthy, and will have an excellent chance of being published by e-zine publishers and webmasters.

11. Always check and double-check your articles for errors.

Use your spell checker and go over your articles for words you might have omitted, run-on sentences and for faulty punctuation.

Also look for words used incorrectly; for instance, if you used "effect" when you should have used "affect" or if you used "there" when you should have used "their."

12. Submit your articles to article directories, article announcement lists, and to e-zine publishers.

Your submissions, although time consuming if done manually, will help you to successfully get your articles published.

Be sure to submit your articles to my article directory at http://www.netpromarketer.com and to visit http://www.netpromarketer.com/directoriesandlists.html where you'll find a list of article directories and article announcement lists.

How To Top Google By Writing Articles

By: Glenn Murray
Search engines determine their rankings based on two things:
1) Is your site relevant? (Optimized for certain keywords)
2) Is your site important? (Many links back to your site from other sites)
Only when you address both of these considerations are you guaranteed of making an impact. Your degree of success depends on how hard you try and how many other people you're competing against (and how hard they're trying).
Optimizing your site for keywords is the easy part. (See http://www.divinewrite.com/seocopy.htm for more information on SEO copy.) Generating links back to your site is much more challenging – and time consuming (especially considering Google’s dampening link filter – see http://www.divinewrite.com/googlelinkfilter.htm). But it can be done; and you don’t need a huge budget. The key to topping Google on a budget is writing articles.

Here’s how it works…

STEP 1) You’re an expert in your field so you possess knowledge that other people want.

STEP 2) You write a helpful article – sharing your hard-earned knowledge and expertise.

STEP 3) You submit your article to recognized “Article Submit” sites on the Internet.

STEP 4) Publishers of online newsletters, ezines, etc. gather content from these sites for free.

STEP 5) Helpful, well written articles are snapped up by thousands of publishers from all around the world.

STEP 6) The only condition is that they must publish the article with a functioning link to your site.

STEP 7) 300 people publish your article – you get 300 links back to your site.

Below are some FAQs about article writing that will help you write your articles and manage your campaign.

Q) What should I write about?

A) Write about what you know. Make sure it’s related to your business (so you can use the keywords you want to rank with) and helpful (so it gets published). For example, if you’re a manufacturer of industrial plastics, you might write an article – or series of articles – on how best to handle teflon tubing prior to installation. Once you get thinking about it, you'll probably find there are hundreds of articles you could write that are helpful. You may even have some of them partly written already in your instruction manuals or installation guides, etc. Another good idea is to think of all the questions you get asked by customers and potential customers. These questions show you what people are interested in. If you write an article answering every one of these questions, you'll get published, and you'll also show yourself to be a credible expert. (You may even cut down phone support time!)

Q) How long should my article be?

A) The best articles are only as long as they need to be. Keep it short and sweet – there’s nothing wrong with a 400 word article. By the same token, if you need 1500 words to say all you need to say, that’s fine as well.

Q) What kind of writing should I use?

A) Simply write in a style that your audience will be comfortable with. If they’re from the old school, don’t write like I am. Don’t use contractions, don’t end sentences with prepositions, and don’t start sentences with “and” or “but”. But if they’re not old school, just use conversational English. In fact, the more of yourself you include in the article, the more engaging it will be. The key is to make it readable.

Q) Should I focus on keywords?

A) Yes! Yes! Yes! Any SEO website copywriter will tell you that just as you need to optimize your website for specific keywords, so too should you optimize your articles. If possible, turn keywords into links back to your site. And always try to include keywords in the headline and byline of your article. And don’t worry about being seen as Spam; if your article provides good quality information and guidance, it won't be seen as spam by the search engines even when it’s very keyword rich.

Q) Where should I submit my article?

A) There are hundreds, if not thousands, of submit sites on the Internet. Too many to include here. Do a search for “article submit” and just find the ones that are most applicable to your industry and offer the most subscribers. Alternatively, you can purchase a list.

Q) Who will publish my article?

A) Generally people publish pre-written articles because they want “eyes on paper”. In other words, they want to generate traffic to their site. Helpful articles are one way of doing that. It also sets them up as credible authorities on a particular subject. And it develops customer loyalty. There are hundreds of thousands of companies (maybe even millions) publishing online newsletters, ezines, and article pages. No matter what your industry, you’re bound to find quite a few who are interested in what you have to say. In fact, once a few publishers recognise you as a good source of content, they keep coming back looking for more (and even email you asking if you can send them directly).

Q) How will I know when my article has been published?

A) As one of the conditions of publications, you can request that the publisher notifies you when they use your article. Of course, most don’t bother to do this, so it's a good idea to set up a Google Alert (http://www.google.com/alerts) which notifies you when your URL has been published on a web page. Google doesn't pick them all up, but it picks up a lot. Whenever you receive an alert, you make sure the article in unchanged and the link back to your site is functioning.

Q) Will the publisher change my article?

A) No, generally not. Changing articles is just extra work. In fact, that’s why publishers like good articles and consistent content providers – because that means they don’t have to do any extra work. I’ve had many articles published, and don’t recall a single instance of an article being changed without my permission. If you’re worried about it, you can include an instruction not to change the article in your conditions of publication.

Q) Can I get an SEO copywriter to write and submit my articles?

A) Yes. Any SEO copywriter should be able to write keyword rich articles and submit them to a number of high traffic article submit sites.

Q) What kind of information would I need to supply an SEO copywriter to write my article?

A) You’d need to tell your SEO copywriter something like, "We want to write an article which helps people install teflon tubing. The kinds of people who'd be doing it are… They'd be doing it because… The benefits of our tubing are… The difficulties they'd face are… Here are the key steps to successful installation…" Using this information, your SEO copywriter should be able to put together a very readable article which would be bound to get published.

Q) Will my reputation suffer if my article appears on a dodgy site?

A) It shouldn’t. Most dodgy sites will be either unrelated or have very low traffic. If the site is unrelated, the publisher won’t go to the effort of publishing your article. If it’s related but has very low traffic, very few people will see your article there anyway. And besides, even if your article appears on a dodgy site, it probably won’t be changed because – dodgy or not – publishers don’t create extra work for themselves. So your original presentation, content, and intent will be unaffected. Write a good article, and it always reflects well on you, no matter where it's published.

Q) How long will it take for my ranking to increase?

A) There are no guarantees in SEO. It all takes time. For a start, the search engines can take up to 2 months to update their index of pages. And a single inbound link generally won’t have much impact. Depending on how much competition you’re facing for keywords, and where the links are coming from, 100 inbound links may not make much of a difference. (Links from high PageRank sites are more beneficial to your ranking – see http://www.divinewrite.com/seotradesecrets.htm for more information on PR.) So don’t expect anything to happen too quickly. But if you’re dedicated, and you’re prepared to write quite a few articles, you’ll definitely see results within a few months.

Happy writing!

What is Holding you Back?

By: Andreas Obermueller

Did you ever ask yourself one or more  of the following questions: How is life so hard to me? Why can’t I succeed? Why are all circumstances against me? Why don’t I have the money I want (and need)? Why do I have this boring job? Why…? Why…? Why….?????

Jesus, I’ m sure you Did! *grin*

Me too, so nothing worse about it. It’s just human!
The important thing is how long do you ask yourself these questions! What do you really get, if you ask them for yourself?
What do these answers, you get, do with you? Do you feel better, neutral or even worse really “upset” and “depressed”?

Do these questions really help???

You know the answer (or you really should do)! Most of the times you get negative feelings!

So, wouldn’t it be much better do ask yourself the following questions: WHAT makes me happy? WHAT I am proud of? WHAT in my life is wonderful or at least o.k.? WHAT can I really be thankful for?

You see “WHAT” has much more positive power than “Why”!

If you asked yourself the last question and found at least one thing (I’m sure you did!), did you feel the positive energy within you?
Just a little bit? Yes? Cool! You got it!!! :-)

Now you might be interested in finding some additional questions that assign more of these positive feelings within you.
If not it’s o.k. You now can stop reading here! ;-)

HOW did I know that you continue reading here? Am I an clairvoyant? No, I am not!
But I am sure that you want do feel better and find some good questions that assign those positive feelings and gain your energy and power!

“HOW” can you find those additional questions? You already found the next one à “HOW?”

“HOW”? can I become happy? “HOW” can I achieve financial security? “HOW” can I find my ideal mate? “HOW” can I succeed?
“HOW”… (find yourself an example her!)?

What does this “HOW?” cause? You get RESOLUTIONS!

Your thinking flows away from your “state of victim and drama” and hops into seeking for resolutions, ways to start, etc.!
That is very important! Dou you feel the power behind “HOW”? Fine! :-)

“WHO” can be an additional question. E.g. “WHO” has the information that I need? “WHO” can help me? “WHO” is willing to assist me?
“WHO” knows how to succeed? “WHO” is already an expert in what I am looking for? “WHO”… (find yourself an example here”)?

“HOW” do you feel now? Better? I hope so!
If not …. are you sure you didn’t cheat? *g*

As you see, questions can be very powerful!

So what questions will you ask yourself to start with more power into 2006?

WHAT is my goal for this year? WHAT is my next step into this direction? WHO is able to assist me? HOW can I find someone who is able to assist me in marketing? WHO else can find someone for me who is able and willing to assist me? …

Ask yourself the right questions and take action NOW!
NOW is the time to become the best person you ever were meant to be!

Is it possible to make a million dollars using only articles?

By: Christopher Kyalo

Here are two questions I get asked a lot about free articles as marketing tools. Do articles really work in generating leads and bringing in business? Can somebody make a million dollars by using only articles to promote their business?

Interestingly I get asked these questions by people who have heard about my services through one of my articles they came across. I am sure because there is no other form of marketing that I use. You would think that the fact that they got to hear about me and my services through the articles, in the first place, would give them a little more faith in this powerful form of online marketing and make them a little more confident.

Actually it is not that surprising when you consider that most people can hardly remember how they first came across a web site or business online.

While it is true that I stay in one of the less costly cities of the world (albeit away from my home country), I still have to support a wife, two children and a grandson. And I do it all from my online business.

You should also know that my income and leads generated through articles has been consistently growing at an increasing rate. That makes perfect sense because the facts are that as you increase the number of articles you have posted online and as the viral effect of your better articles getting re-posted all over the net takes place, the number of people exposed to your hybrid ads (that is exactly what articles posted on the net really are) increases dramatically. The inevitable affect of this is that you will get more leads and more business.

So the answer to the first question is YES.

The answer to the second question is also an emphatic YES. But I hasten to add that you will have to work very hard to reach that figure.

You will have to work very hard on the quality of your articles. And you will also have to be focused and focus all your articles, like a laser beam on a single subject, business and web site that you want to generate a million dollars for you.

For your articles to be really effective, they should strive to solve some pressing problem among your target market.

Should You Hire a Famous Writer or Write Your Own Articles?

By: Bill Platt

 Proven and Exceptional Click-Through Results

Testing has proven again and again that promotional articles generate more click-through traffic than standard ezine advertising. And it is much cheaper than standard ezine advertising, even if you are paying someone else to write and distribute your articles for you.

Promotional articles that are distributed with free-reprint rights get published regularly in ezines and on websites and the results are long-term. Both publication outlets generate results, although both outlets generate different patterns of traffic to your site.

Creating Content

Either you know that you are capable of writing your own articles or you feel that you might need to hire a ghostwriter to help you with your task.

If you need a ghostwriter to help you create articles to promote your program, there are literally dozens of companies and hundreds of freelance writers out there that can help you complete your task.

Tips for Selecting Your Ghostwriter

One of my clients asked me the other day whether they should use their own in-house writer to develop their articles or whether they should hire a famous writer to write their articles for them.

That is a good question. It depends on how many articles you will want to have created for you.

If you plan on creating fewer than ten articles, it might make more sense to hire an already famous, professional writer. So long as your famous writer is known for the type of content you want to have created, then your famous writer will help you get a strong running start in that they already have a good reputation in the field you want your articles written.

If your famous writer is not known in your field, then it does not matter whether you use the famous writer, your in-house writer, or if you create a pen name for a fictional writer.

Gambling on the Long Term

If your intent is to have more than ten articles created, then it is my suggestion that you should either use your in-house writer using his or her real name or create a pen name for your in-house writer.

Whether you use the writer*s real name or a pen name, your decision should be made upon your confidence in your in-house writer. Sure, you can count on their skills or you would not be considering using their work. The real question you must ask yourself is how long you feel that the in-house writer will remain in your employment.

There is always a chance that your business will be built on the name of someone who goes to another job, taking his or her name recognition with him or her to the other employer. Using your writer*s real name or a pen name is always a gamble. Weigh all of the factors well before making your decision.

If It Were My Business

If I ran a brick-and-mortar business in a very competitive marketplace where personalities can shine brighter than the home office, then I would strongly consider using my in-house writer and providing him or her with a fictional pen name. There is no sense in building a name that will go on to promote your competition.

Manifesting the *Power of Seven*

If you have plans to develop more than ten articles for the promotion of your business, then it does not matter if your writer is already famous in your field.

I am sure that you have heard about the *Power of Seven.*

Many research companies have studied the question of how many times a business must be seen before the customer has confidence enough to spend money with the business.

The research has been conclusive. Seven is the magic number. Once a potential customer has heard of a business seven times, the business has rose above the first major hurdle in attracting the potential customer to their business. After a potential customer has heard of a business seven times, then the potential customer is much more likely to trust the business enough to spend their money with the business.

The *Power of Ten* in Publishing

A writer is very much like a business, and a publisher is very much like a customer. The *Power of Seven* plays an important role in getting the writer*s work published.

However, we cannot count on seven promotional articles to bridge the trust gap with the publisher. While publishers will see most of your articles, as they are made available for publication, usually they will not see seven articles in seven distributions.

Publishers are busy people and they do not check for new articles daily. But, publishers do check for new articles regularly as they need to continuously find materials for publication.

The goal is to send out ten articles to get seven articles seen and read by publishers. Once the publisher reads the seventh article, if the quality of the articles had been good, then the publisher will trust the value of the articles created by the writer.

More Figures Concerning Promotional Article Success

Ironically, the fact that the publisher has seen articles by a particular writer seven times is often good enough to get the writer published. The publisher only needs to read one or two good quality articles by the writer to cement the trust they will have in the writer.

Once the publisher has come to the decision that a writer is good and provides information important to their readers, the publisher will always notice the writer*s name as they are browsing for the next article that they will publish.

With my business, I have been distributing articles for my clients since early 2000. Any writer who has permitted me to submit articles for them for the length of six months remains to be one of my clients. Why do you think that is?

I believe it is because six months worth of article submissions — whether done weekly, bi-weekly or monthly — has enabled my client*s to bridge the *Power of Seven* with the publishers and webmasters who receive the articles that I distribute.

Some who distribute weekly cross the *Power of Seven* bridge well before the six months is up and they reaped fast rewards for their hyper-distribution schedule.

Publishers & Webmasters Are the Gateways to Buyers

With my service, I am able to get your articles into the mailboxes of more than 12,000 publishers and webmasters looking for good quality content.

If only 25 publishers — with an average of 5,000 readers each — reprint an article, then 125,000 potential buyers could read the average article. Add to that fact that several of my client*s get published in ezines that reach more than 700,000 readers, and my clients can reach nearly one million buyers with a single article.

The *Power of Seven* Could Make YOU Famous!

I always suggest that if you are doing more than ten articles, you should use your in-house writer*s name or a fictional pen name. The reason I say this is that after ten articles, you will be strongly on the road to becoming famous yourself. Once the name used to promote your business has become famous, and then your business will continue to reap the rewards for that famous name for years to come.

Website Promotion – Submit Articles, but Spread them Around By: Charles Essmeier

Writing articles on topics that are relevant to your Website’s topic and submitting them to free content sites is a great way to effectively promote your Website at little or no cost. There are many Websites that want topical content, and they frequently obtain this content from “free content” publishers. Those sites are always looking for articles and they’ll accept articles from most anyone. They offer no compensation other than a link back to your Website. This, as many writers have discovered, is a powerful incentive. Thousands of people have written and submitted articles to “free content” sites in order to promote their own Website, and it’s probably the most cost-effective tool for Website promotion. But there are hundreds of “free content” sites on the Web. Should you submit your articles to one site only, or should you submit to many different sites? I would appear that submitting articles to as many sites as possible is the best way to promote your site.In the six or seven weeks that I have been writing articles, I have been submitting them to multiple “free content” sites. I don’t just submit to any site; I have some criteria. The site must have a form that allows me to “fill in the blanks” to submit my article. I’m way too busy to deal with sites that require e-mail submissions or require me to join a Yahoo! Group. I also avoid sites that will not provide a live, clickable link back to my Website or sites that cover only topics that aren’t relevant to the topics of my Websites. Based on those criteria, I have a “core” group of eighteen sites to which I submit my articles. I have an additional group of seventeen sites I use for articles I write that are related to Website promotion, such as this one. Anytime I write an article, it is submitted to up to thirty-five different sites for publication. From there, each article could end up being published on thousands of different sites.

To date, I have written some 60 articles, published to many different sites. In roughly that same time period, another author who regularly submits articles to one of these content sites has written nearly twenty times as many articles. It would appear, however, that this author does not submit to multiple content sites, but instead submits his articles to this one site only. Still, with some 1200 articles written, this author must be reaping much greater rewards from his work than I am, right? That does not appear to be the case. This author’s Website actually has fewer incoming links than a site of mine that I have promoted through articles exclusively. If you do a search on Google for this author’s name and a search for my name, you will find that my name and his yield the same number of search results. Even more interesting is the fact that this author has written all of these articles to promote one Website, and my articles cover six different topics and promote six different sites! By submitting to one article to thirty-five different sites, I am obtaining the same promotion power as if I had written thirty-five different articles!

The statistical evidence would suggest that while it is important to find the best sites for submitting articles, it is well worth the writer’s while to submit articles to as many sites as possible in order to get the maximum amount of promotion out of each article. Writing the articles is the hard part; submitting the articles takes about one minute per site. That minute is well spent.
