Can I publish articles too?

By: Benjamin Wigoder
Can I publish articles too?It was only a couple of days ago I thought to myself, having read dozens of articles about article publishing, why don't I give it a try? Article publishing is the latest craze to hit the internet, but it is so much easier than you probably think!Benefits of article marketing: You gain 1-way links from many related sites back to yours. Your link is targeted and therefore quality because it points from a relevant article. You can showcase or mention at least one of your products. It help spreads your company's reputation across the web. Your article will continue to be reprinted without any further input! What can I write about?

Anything! Any topic you have advanced or professional knowledge of, from gardening or caring for pets to SEO it does not matter! As long as you write well, and your article is interesting and original, you cannot lose!

Target, target & target! As with any marketing, you have to target your article! Don't forget who your audience is, and like any SEO, set out the keywords you wish to use in advance, then you can tweak your article to perfection before you publish it.Its about volume!

The more targeted visitors to your site the more potential sales (obviously!) – your article will spread the web so quickly and you can expect a small boost to visitors each time you publish an article. This means you should publish articles regularly! Keep writing more and more, relevant to the latest issues in the topic you specialize in, and before long not only will you be making more sales but you will become a recognized expert in your field!

The inevitable search engine benefit!

When the search engines see more and more 1-way links back to your site building up over time, your search engine positions will rise higher and higher! Whichever way you look at articles, you cannot lose!

So what do I do? Write your article.Write your 'about the author' box, take a look at how other people do this before deciding on yours, I change mine for each article.Visit www.goarticles.com – complete the quick sign up – and publish your article in the corresponding category. Conclusion

Well there you have it – Article Publishing in a nutshell! Just remember that one article is not enough! To achieve top rankings you need to publish many varied articles over time – so keep writing and good luck!

15 Commandments To Submitting Articles – Article Submission

By: Martin Lemieux
15 Commandments To Submitting Articles – Article Submission Sites By: Martin Lemieux1) Don't use all capitals in your title:

People don't like to be yelled at. USING CAPITALS is the same as yelling and looks awful. There aren't many article submission sites that accept ALL capitals in your title.

2) Only use HTML when asked:

There is nothing worse for an editor when he/she has to strip out HTML because you failed to follow the guidelines. If the website asks for NO HTML then don't add any.

3) Only use simple HTML:

If you are allowed to use HTML, just use the basics. Ex. (P)aragraph, (B)old, (I)talicized, (LI)st bullets, (A)link, etc. These HTML codes are considered basic and are usually accepted when submitting your article in HTML format.

4) Don't use articles to advertise your services within the content:

There is nothing worse than reviewing an article and seeing 5/10 links that are owned by the author embedded within the content of the article. Granted, sometimes you have something unique to help others with and you need to get the word out, I like to see such promotion but ONLY if it is useful for the readers and it is FREE, not a paid service or product. Try not to use this unique information within every single article that you write. This info will then become a little useless for the editors and they may even delete that section. Please remember to READ the "Author Guidelines" before you start submitting your articles.

5) Don't submit press releases as tips:

There is a distinct difference between a press release and an informative article. Press releases are strictly for announcing news about your company. Informative articles teach people about a specific subject (not about your company).

6) Have your articles edited by editors:

These days, there are so many authors trying to make their mark. It is imperative that you get your article edited by an editor, friend, colleague, or someone who is really good at checking for spelling and grammar.

7) Try to write something unique to the industry:

People all over the world are writing about the same thing. If you truly want to shine, try writing about topics that aren't covered by everyone. If you discover something new, do some research on what people are saying about it. If you can't find any other content, you may have found a gold mine.

8) Don't copy other people's content:

This topic is seriously funny. We have caught people actually stealing our articles and simply changing the title of the article to call it their own. How pathetic! If you use someone else's content, only use it for study, not for your own promotion and recognition. If you "quote" someone else, make sure to give credit where appropriate.

9) Find 5 new article submission sites to submit to:

If you submit articles once a week, try and make it a habit to find 5 new article submission sites to submit to. I guarantee you that new article submission websites popup almost weekly. We are still finding new sites to submit to, there is no limit to your search. Go within Google and do a search similar to "article submission sites", or "Where to submit articles to?".

Here are 5 newer article submission sites:

9.1) http://www.article99.com 9.2) http://www.a1articles.com 9.3) http://www.activeauthors.com 9.4) http://www.articlepros.com 9.5) http://www.free-articles-zone.com

10) Keep your author bio short & sweet:

Try keeping your author biography short & sweet. There is nothing worse than seeing an article submission and realizing that most of the article content is within the author bio. Use one sentence and a couple of links. Most submission sites will accept up to 3 links within your resource box.

11) Don't buy articles from other companies and call them your own:

Commandment #11 is sweeping the world and is giving the article writing industry a bad name. Please don't even consider buying articles from people that claim that they will write a "UNIQUE" article for you to promote. Trust me when I tell you this, the article that you buy has been sold and re-sold many times. You will be doing your company no justice at all by buying articles. Article submission websites frown down on this method and will ban you from ever submitting articles again if you are caught.

12) Try not to attack others within your articles:

Being libelous is not good karma. Attacking others will give a negative effect for your articles. In fact, most article submission websites won't accept articles that are libelous.

13) Use copyright information at the bottom of your article:

Adding your copyright information at the top won't help you at all. I've come across many websites that simply delete your copyright information if it is listed at the top. That's what your author bio is for. Add any reprint rights and copyright information within your bio.

14) Affiliate links should never be used:

DO NOT USE AFFILIATE LINKS PERIOD! Promoting affiliate links within articles is a no no. Most article submission websites have a rule against listing affiliate links within author's articles (body content) and your author bio. If you absolutely need to use an affiliate link, try creating a "short link" that simplifies the link into a smaller, more compact link.

15) Setup For Manual Submissions:

Most link submission softwares aren't the answer. There is nothing better than personalizing your submissions by submitting them manually. Granted, this can take up to 2-4 hours per week if you write one article a week BUT submitting manually will get your article listed within two times as many article submission websites than the software's can. Many websites require a login or show you an image to "enter the characters shown" to login and submit articles. By using a software, you will never be able to submit to such companies.

Many article submission websites have different and unique fields that they require for you to enter. If you use a software, you will never have that personal touch that each individual website & editor is looking for and your articles will never be accepted.

If you follow these commandments, you should have no problem getting your articles listed on 1000's of websites and get a great deal of promotion for your company.

Keep writing and keep submitting!

The Real Value Of Free Reprint Articles

By: Trey Pennewell
Free reprint articles can dramatically increase traffic to your website by way of inbound links. Free reprint articles are articles that have either been written by you or by a ghostwriter and are given away to publishers so that you can get free exposure.Your articles should deal with topics in your area of expertise and the general topic that your website covers. Free reprint articles are generally informative and helpful to the reader. Once you or the ghostwriter have completed your article, you will want to get it distributed to publishers who will print it in their ezines and newsletters or on their websites. When a publisher uses your free reprint article, the publisher agrees to attach a textbox that contains the authors name and information, and a link back to your website. This is where your increased web traffic comes from.

Is it worth it for you to go to the trouble of writing an informative, good quality article that can increase your web traffic? Is it worth it to hire a ghostwriter to do it for you? Are you willing to pay a distributor to get your article out to the publishers? These are all questions that you must answer for yourself. Keep in mind that writing a single article and getting it published into niche ezines and newsletters that reach your target audiences can be extremely valuable.

If you did not use a free reprint article, how would you reach these targeted audiences? By targeted audiences, I mean that the readers are interested enough in the topic that you deal with to subscribe to ezines and newsletters that provide information on those topics. Many would say that they would simply pay to advertise in the ezines and newsletters that reach their target market. This is an effective, but expensive method of reaching your target audiences. Consider that on average, the CPM (cost per thousand subscribers) advertising rate for ezines and newsletters is $8 CPM. Now if an ezine has 10,000 subscribers, you will be paying $80.00 for an advertisement in that single publication.

Conversely, if you use free reprint articles to promote your business, you can possibly reach this ezine and ten others just like it. With some articles, you might be able to reach one hundred more ezines with the same size subscriber base, and some with an even larger subscriber base. I have been published in ezines reaching as many as 750,000 subscribers per issue. This is the beauty of using free reprint articles for business promotion; one article written and distributed one time could reach 10 thousand readers, 100 thousand readers, and possibly even millions of readers.

Suppose for example, you spend $600 to have an article written for you, and suppose you spend $200 to have that article distributed for you. In many cases, you can get a ghostwriter and a distributor for much less money. For the sake of our example, if you spend $800 to have an article written and distributed for you, and your article reaches 100,000 readers, then you will have spent 0.008 cents per reader to have your sales message delivered to your targeted market. This is the equivalent of the $8 CPM advertising we were talking about previously.

Now, what if you can buy a ghost written article and have it distributed for half or even a third this amount, and what if perhaps you can reach even more readers than the 100,000? Whenever you can spend less or you can increase the reach of your message, then you will have lowered the CPM cost of your sales message.

For the average businessperson, a free reprint article will be much cheaper than straight paid advertising, and the free reprint article will show the readers that you are indeed an expert in your field. Whether you sell services or products, the reader can see that you know your stuff by reading your article.

A free reprint article that is sent to targeted publishers by an experienced distribution service can reach thousands of potential publishers that have thousands or tens of thousands of readers. The cost of doing this varies, but the cost of distributing one article is almost always far cheaper than buying one advertisement in one ezine or newsletter. The distributors send the article, with the textbox and link back to your site, to the appropriate publishers. The publishers have generally developed an appreciation for the distributors and are often more trusting of material sent by the distribution services. Therefore, publishers may be more likely to use your article in their publications if you use a distribution service to get it to them.

Writing and distributing free reprint articles is definitely an effective and inexpensive method to generate traffic to your website and to gain new customers. If you do not feel that writing is your specialty, consider hiring a ghostwriter to write the article for you. When using a ghostwriter there is almost always a written agreement that you can use your own name as the author of the article. This way you become known as the expert and as one who offers the valuable information to potential customers.

A simple advertisement in a publication offers little real value to the reader. A free reprint article does offer value, because it gives the reader some real and useful information. For example, if you are running a website that deals with home improvements, then you may want to write an article that tells the readers how to make a certain home improvement. Give away some of your knowledge, and the readers will be more likely to visit your website. An advertisement simply shows the services that you offer, not that you actually know what you are talking about.

Free reprint articles are cost effective and can save you time, trouble and money. You can literally reach tens or hundreds of thousands of possible customers in a very short period of time.

I would encourage you to track several pieces of data in connection with your free reprint articles.

First, you should track where you have been published, how many readers you were able to reach, and the average cost of advertising in the ezines and newsletters where you were published. This allows you to gain an appreciation for the monetary value of the advertising you were able to acquire using your free reprint article. It also allows you the luxury of making an accurate determination as to whether the money you had spent to write and distribute your article matched up with the advertising value you received.

Secondly, you should track how much traffic you were able to have delivered to your website as a result of the publication of your article, how much of that traffic you were able to convert into buyers, and how many dollars those visitors spent at your site. This will allow you to determine how effective your advertising is against the cost of the advertising received. The reality is that some ezines charge $4 CPM and will not deliver that much value, while other ezines charge $50 CPM and they are worth every penny spent.

The actual numbers can vary widely from article to article. But, when you compare the results from a free reprint article to the results from a regular advertisement, the cost per visitor gained from a free reprint article will be much cheaper and your return on investment (ROI) will be much more long-term, than traffic gained from traditional advertising.

TurboCharge Your Site With Article Writing

By: Titus Hoskins
Writing articles related to your site's topic and syndicating these articles all over the web is a very effective way of marketing your site. This simple, yet effective marketing strategy will deliver targeted visitors, increase your rankings and boost your sales. In essence, article writing will 'TurboCharge' your site!

Although it sounds more like a catch-phrase from a marketer's hype-fest, its the most appropriate phrase to describe the effect article writing will have on your web site. It perfectly sums up the major benefits of article marketing.

Article writing will quickly:

* boost one-way links to your site * help you brand your name or site * help sell or pre-sell your products * bring in plenty of targeted traffic * give you and your site more creditability

The effects can sometimes be jarring…

One minute, your site is humming along at its regular pace, then suddenly, you check your web logs and your stats has doubled or even tripled. There is a massive flood of visitors coming to your site. Sometimes, it may only be one site which picks up your article and features it in their ezine, bringing in targeted visitors to your site. Other times, it may be many sites and ezines displaying your articles, causing a large influx of guests to your site.

All of the above has happened to me!

First, some background, I had heard other marketers sing the praises of article writing for so long I decided to do a test-run and see the proof for myself. Writing over 30 articles since January of this year, I kept track of my results over this six month period – to view these articles and find out where some of them ended up, just google my name "TITUS HOSKINS".

Finding and researching material for articles was not a problem. Online forums, subscribers' questions, and my own marketing tasks were a great source of ideas. Compiling and writing original articles that would stand out from the crowd was the hard part.

Here are some pointers that I learned about article writing that may also help you:

Find the Right Title – Choosing the right title will make or break your article, keep it short and put the main benefit of your article in your title, i.e. what will readers actually acquire from reading your article?

Keep Your Article Short and Concise – If you want your article to be pick up by ezines and placed on sites, keep it short (300-1200 Words) and to the point. I find articles in the 700 – 900 word range do very well, longer articles less so.

Do A Spell and Grammar Check – Use a spell-checker or WordPerfect to check your articles. I also use Google as my proof reader. Not sure of a word or phrase, just Google it!

Resource Box – Like the title, you must point out the benefits of clicking your links in your resource box which is displayed at the end of your article. Offering a free ecourse or ebook I found will improve your 'click thru rate'. Newsletter subscriptions also works. If you're keyword marketing, place your keyword or phrase in the anchor text of your resource box links. Google will reward you handsomely for this simple little detail. So will the other search engines.

Be Unique – Find your own voice. Be distinctive. Make yourself and your site stand out. But don't go overboard, writing concise, informative and helpful articles will bring enough interest and attention to your site. Narrowing and focusing in on one subject area will eventually make you an expert on that topic or subject.

Syndicating your Articles – Online article directories are very good for this. Listed below are the major ones I use to get my articles 'out there'.

www.goarticles.com www.ezinearticles.com www.ideamarketers.com www.articleally.com www.articlemarketer.com

Simple tracking tips, if you want to check the performance of difference article directories – just make a minor change in your article as you place it in each directory. Then as your article is spread around the web – you can check its source. To find out just how far your articles have traveled, just place your article's title between quotation marks and Google it…like this: "TurboCharge Your Site With Article Writing"

My experiences with article writing were very beneficial to me. I was a little surprised at the high quality sites picking up and displaying my articles: addme, sitepronews, thetechzone, bonafidereviews, wwwcoder, buzzle, icemelon, devshed… and many more.

It has tripled my site's links since January, Google indexed my site and started sending significant traffic my way. My traffic according to Alexa, is under 50,000 many weeks – my site even made it into the top 15,000 for a very short while. Those spikes in traffic also means more subscribers and more sales. I recently had over 200 subscribers to my ezine in one day – my site normally receives around 5-10 new subscribers each day.

I also found more people 'bookmarked' my site – resulting in more long term targeted traffic. My affiliate sales have increased, and since my page views are up, my Google Adsense earnings have also increased. I also believe article writing has helped in branding my site and also giving myself more creditability.

In fact, my results have been so positive, I feel a 'disclaimer' coming on! Your results will vary according to your skill, effort and resources but article marketing is one of the best free marketing strategies you will ever have at your disposal. If you try only one new marketing technique this year, make it article writing.

So go ahead, give your site the boost it deserves, 'TurboCharge' it with some of your best writing and experience the effects for yourself. Buckle up and both hands on the wheel!

Five Great Ideas For Your Next Article

By: Michael Southon
It's amazing how quickly free articles can generate traffic – my traffic sometimes triples within 24 hours of releasing a new article. But if free articles are your main marketing technique, you may run into a problem – how to come up with new ideas.Yesterday an interviewer asked me in an email: "How does someone come up with topic ideas? What do you do, for example?"

This was my reply:

The key to coming up with topic ideas for your articles is to be very aware of what you yourself are learning. As you know, e-commerce is a huge area and we're all learning new things every day. Every time you learn something new, write a short article about it. Because there are almost certainly other people who are going to have to learn what you just learned and your article is going to make it much easier for them to get that information.

The other thing to do is pay close attention to the questions people ask you. For example, I had a question last week from a man in the UK who wanted to know how to use articles to promote an affiliate link. So I answered his question and then wrote an article titled: 'How To Boost Your Affiliate Sales With Free Articles'.

You may notice that I'm using this technique here. Yesterday someone asked me a question and today I'm writing an article about it. It's that simple!

Here are five great ideas for your next article:

  1. Write a Book/Product Review
This is an endless source of new articles. Every time you see a new eBook, write to the author and ask if you can have a 'review copy' (this is also an excellent way to get free copies of the latest new eBooks).Writing a book review is really very easy – just summarize the points that most impressed you. You can see some examples of book reviews at:

  2. Do an Interview
Contact a well-known figure on the Internet and ask him or her if you could interview them by email. There's an art to doing a good interview and the best way to learn is to look at other interviews:

  3. Write a Business News Article
Subscribe to one of the Internet News services, clipping agencies, or Press Release services and use the information you receive to write articles on the latest developments in your industry field. Here are some websites that specialize in Internet Business News:

  4. Write an Anecdote
Have you had a strange or frustrating experience on the Internet, or have you made a big mistake that you learned from (people love reading about other people's mistakes). Write about it!
  5. Write a 'How To' article
These kind of articles are always in demand. And it doesn't have to be very long – five tips that you've picked up in the last month on some aspect of running an online business. Maybe you learned how to choose a web host, how to choose a list server, how to deal with spam, how to get better results from your Newsletter, or how to succeed with affiliate programs? Why not share those tips with others?

I hope these ideas have given you food for your next article and the next surge of free traffic to your website!

Building Websites with Articles

By: Richard Keir
Copyright 2005 Richard KeirI've been blogging occasionally over the last two months about my ongoing experiment with writing articles. This is a super hot topic lately with the changes going on at Google and Yahoo that are impacting many websites and basically freaking people out.

Now everybody knows that writing articles is a powerful technique. You knew that, right? And everybody is writing articles, right? No. Did I? Not until recently, though I wrote a lot in blogs and did post some articles I wrote on my sites. There's two parts to this for me. Writing, which I have been doing. Distributing. Which I hadn't been doing.

I finally came out of that fog and decided that I had to see what distribution might really do. Content, such as original articles is still the basic currency of the internet. People come onto the web looking for information. Content provides that information.

But, if the content is just sitting on a blog or posted in an article directory on one website, it has very limited exposure without links. Content may be the flesh of the web, but links are the bones, the underlying structure that allows things to found and accessed.

It's in our faces right here – the two basics that you can combine to really power a successful website. Content and links. Write articles AND publish/distribute them. Simple, basic, old style site building.

One technique many are using to build sites is to get other people's articles and put them up on their sites to provide related content. I do it, you do it, nearly everyone seems to. Other people publish ezines, but can't possibly write all the content they want to provide. This is the demand that exists, right now, for your articles. There is a deep, apparently bottomless need for quality content on nearly anything imaginable. And it won't go away.

Original content on your site is a great traffic booster. Distributing your content all over the internet gets you lots of incoming links – which over time could well continue to increase as your articles are picked up and redistributed. Plus you are generating a name for yourself and qualifying yourself as an expert. Experts write about what they know and discover. They share their knowledge. I'm not talking about anyone being a genius and discovering anti-gravity (and finally eliminating rocket science). I'm talking about what's already in your head and what you can learn, research and write about.

I wrote three articles on some basics concepts to keep in mind in building and developing successful eCommerce websites. They aren't hot hot hot 6 steps to infinite wealth type writing. They're basic and based on research. Then I distributed them to a couple (not all) of the big article directories and to a large group of relevant directories and lists through SubmitYourArticle.com (which I do recommend if you're looking for an excellent and reasonable article submission service). Here are the results as of this writing (June 28, 2005):

======== Pages Reported
======== Yahoo = Google = MSN = Pub Date
Article 1 . . . 610 . . . 320 . . . . 436 . . May 19th
Article 2 . . . 253 . . . 246 . . . . 269 . . June 1st
Article 3 . . 2060 . . .1000 . . . .239 . . June 14th

. . Total . . .2923 . . .1566 . . . .944

That's a lot of pages. Now, some of those won't have any live link. Yes, it does happen even though it really shouldn't. A lot of the sites it's on won't have much or any page rank and probably quite a few sites are not relevant. People aren't always careful about selecting relevant articles. Some will be on pages that won't pass rank. However, what's left are relevant incoming one-way links – some of which will be from sites with at least some authority. Say even 20% of the links are relevant and/or from sites with some rank. That's a minimum (I believe I'm being pretty conservative with the 20% figure) of over 1000 useful incoming links based on relevant content.

I was astonished. And then I felt really stupid – I knew this, but I really didn't GET it or I would have been writing and distributing from day 1. You're looking at the truth behind the power of articles and article distribution. No tricks, no fancy high powered tools, no big expensive anything at all.

Are you telling yourself you can't write articles? I'm telling you that you can. If you can talk, you can write. If you need help, there are lots of resources about how to write – some very good ones are free, some are quite inexpensive. Other tools are more expensive.

Ghostwriters are another alternative. A little tricky and possibly slightly expensive for really high quality work, but there's also a lot of information available on how to do it right.

My advice here is – whatever it takes, start publishing your own original content on your website and start distributing it now. For building long term success, there's very little you can do that will have anywhere near the same results.

Control your own Success

 - By: Magnus Gunnlaugsson

It is a sad aspect of live but not everyone is successful. In the world, we live in there are winners and losers. Most people want to be in the group of winners but unfortunately, many remain where they stand. As you well know, being successful means to stand above the others around you or to know more that the one sitting next to you does. Not being successful is simple: you make all the wrong choices, you work without ethics, you most likely lack responsibility and education is almost everything. Although it is not obvious, the lack of success is also a choice, but a choice that can be gained on the first try.You need to understand how to have more success than your colleague does and to work for success. Success does not come free or cheap, you have to pay for it. The price is not monetary but it is expressed in manners of time and effort, these being precious details that you cannot receive back once you gave them away. Success is hard. To be successful you have to work hard, be educated and have a little bit of luck. Often you have to try many times until you truly reach success.

Here is some practical advice on how to be successful:

- Alter your behavior and learn good manners.

- Always read, always learn and always communicate.

- Build up a purpose in life, create a plan and go on living by it.

- Cherish everything you have and get.

- Find out more, be responsible, learn about control and always stay informed.

- Give up watching so much television, or playing games.

- Give up bad habits and keep the good ones: eat well and regularly, get enough sleep, go to a gym or just go jogging.

- Keep your sense of humor but do not become rude.

- Try to work more in the shortest possible periods of time.

- Think and act fast when faced with an opportunity. If you see what you really want, do not let any chances pass you by. This one might just be the last you will get.

Anyone and everyone can have success but you just need to grab it for yourself in leaps or small steps or any way you can.
