What One Expects From Google

By: jamia

Small Entrepreneurs Ain’t that Beautiful

Search engines like Google moves forward with a damn good amount of expectation from its clients. But what we see around gives a glimpse of negligence, a client should always be expecting from them. Now if that, as I claim, is for Google to maximize profit, it surely has to be explained with logical clarity. Let’s start with one of the most reported of Google’s deficiencies. Suppose you wish to sell a product quiet unique in its own respect yet not something that everyone would always require. You might have been thrilled with Google’s claims to promote the small entrepreneur; but then in the course of your journey, you realize that being small ain’t all that beautiful.

Why care for the Small

Deep inside the processing houses of Google, there they sit stretched on the chairs, are made to mingle with men of the same thoughts and habits, the outside world slowly fading with the glamour of the lights inside. They hence might not feel that it is worthy of addressing the queries of a small entrepreneur. He is now struck with a problem. His product was decided to be sold online, using a Google ad campaign, with target words hard enough to enable clients to each him, or as he believed. However, Google says that the person in question has words with low “quality scores”. He should hence be penalized with higher word costs. An ad with a low “quality score” was often disabled by Google which our friend was unlucky to have. Probably if you pay more, your ads have a greater chance to remain but with less success, which shall force people like our entrepreneur to close the deal with Google.

Be Large to Campaign

Google’s system works less with key words and more with campaigns. In a campaign when you have a keyword performing poorly, the rest of the words get affected with it. This necessitates targeting the campaign than the keywords for which the need of the day shall be to turn into a big advertiser with a broad range of items.

If that does explain quite a big fallacy of Google search engine operations, then the prevailing click frauds shall appear more disgusting. When Google makes money each time someone clicks the ads, there remains a chance that a fraud could click and click yet buy nothing out of those ads. While the advertiser is charged with a hefty bill as rent for Google, his product still remains unsold or probably undersold in the ad world. Google in most cases have proposed to make things right but has been hazy in its actions. This is where one stops over to think right about the claims and demeanor of Google- what has been stated by this search engine yet remains to be verified.

I stumbled across the site http://www.organicspam.com and found something for the webmasters to rely upon; fighting against the supreme monopoly of the search engines. Everybody can come together and Raise Your Voice against them.

How do I know these things? Because Google has been open about what they are looking for. These are not theories based on observations; these are things that Google has discussed openly through employees, at conferences.

Over-Optimization and the Google Sandbox

By: Joel C. Carlson So you put a lot of work into creating a really great website only to find that noone can find it and Google doesnt rank your site very highly. You hear about a thing called “search engine optimization” and decide to give it a try. Before you go adding your keywords to every element of your pages and building links any way you can, take a step back and remind yourself of the old saying, “sometimes less is more”.

Search engine optimization, or SEO, has really taken off over the last five years as more and more fledgling webmasters have created websites, only to find that noone comes to visit. As they search around for ways to get more visitors, most of them quickly find resources on how to optimize a web page for the search engines and go right to work sprinkling keywords everywhere and building links from any place they can get them.

This causes problems for a search engine because, lets face it, you are trying to manipulate the search results and they are trying to avoid being manipulated. After all, just because YOU think your site is a great resource on a topic doesnt mean that it is. Google has already adjusted for the webmaster that is over-optimizing their website, and its called the Google “sandbox”. The sandbox is a name that disgruntled webmasters have given to the situation where a new site that should rank well for a keyword is nowhere to be found in the rankings, only to suddenly appear one day several months down the road. What is this sandbox effect and what could cause it?

My theory is that the “sandbox” is actually more of a “trustbox”, meaning that Google looks at many attributes of your site to determine if you are attempting to manipulate the search rankings. The most obvious, and the twp traps that most beginning webmasters fall into, I believe, is over-optimizing your on-page content and building too many low quality links too fast.

I believe that the newer your domain is, the less tolerance Google has for over-optimization of pages, or suspiciously fast link building. Once you trip the filter, youre placed in the holding cell (“sandbox”), because Google suspects you of trying to manipulate the results. I also believe that the tolerance for over-optimization varies based on the industry, so spammy industries such as pharmaceutical drugs are far more sensitive to over-optimization than most. That can cause some discouragement by many who are hoping to find fast success, since those industries are already competitive enough that you NEED highly optimized content and lots of links to possibly compete for top rankings, but you cant do it too quickly or you will be sandboxed.

At a recent WebmasterWorld conference, Matt Cutts from Google stated that there really wasn’t a “sandbox”, but “the algorithm might affect some sites, under some circumstances, in a way that a webmaster would perceive as being sandboxed.” This means that avoiding the sandbox is merely a matter of optimizing your site without tripping the filters in Googles algorithm.

Ask yourself these questions to avoid over-optimization penalties:

- Is your title a single target keyword phrase and nothing else?
- Is your keyword phrase found in several of the following locations: title, header, subheaders, bold or italicized words?
- Does the page read differently that you would normally speak?
- Are you in a competitive industry that is frequented by spammers?
- Have you acquired a large number of low PageRank links quickly?
- Do you have very few high PageRank (6+) links pointing to your site?

In summary, the current theory about Googles “sandbox” is that it is actually more like a holding cell where the Google “police” keep your website when it is suspected of possibly trying to manipulate the search results. As the domain ages, most sites eventually gain enough “trust” to escape the sandbox and immediately start ranking where they normally would. Remember that Google is not manually ranking every website – in the end it is simply a computer algorithm and those who are able to score well in Googles algorithm WITHOUT tripping any filters will achieve top rankings and profit the most.Article Source: http://www.niche-article-library.be

3. Write for your target audience.
You’ll have a better chance of attracting people to your site that are interested in purchasing your products.
4. Use numbered lists.
Your numbered lists will help you to effectively share your tips with your readers while making your article easy to read.
Use your numbered lists to share points on your article’s topic, list your directions when writing a how to article, or to deliver the content of your article if you wanted to write a list article.
You can also use numbered lists to share resources related to what you talk about in your article along with your descriptions of those resources.
5. Use the active voice.
With the active voice the subject does the action while with the passive voice the subject receives the action expressed by the verb.
For instance:
Active voice: The dog bit the mailman. Passive voice: The mailman was bitten by the dog.
Use the active voice to keep your sentences from being awkward or confusing and to liven up your article.
6. Make your writing more personal by using the word “you” a lot within your article.
A simple way to accomplish this is to write your article to one person.
You’ll naturally use the word “you” a lot within your article, and your readers will feel like you’re talking directly to them.
7. Don’t be afraid to share your personality with your readers.
You could inject a little bit of humor into your article, or share an opinion, story or anecdote that relates to the topic of your article.
8. Offer a subscription to your e-zine or a freebie in your resource box.
Writing articles will help you to get your site promoted on relevant sites and e-zines at no cost to you.
Maximize the profit you get from writing your articles by giving your readers a subscription to your e-zine, or a freebie that they’ll find valuable enough to go back to again and again.
9. Once you’ve written your article, wait a couple of days, and then reread your article.
You might be able to add new points that you might have missed before, add more detail to information you covered in your article, or reword parts of your article that are unclear.
10. Use current topics whether online or in the “real world” to get ideas for your articles.
Your articles will be cutting edge and newsworthy, and will have an excellent chance of being published by e-zine publishers and webmasters.
11. Always check and double-check your articles for errors.
Use your spell checker and go over your articles for words you might have omitted, run-on sentences and for faulty punctuation.
Also look for words used incorrectly; for instance, if you used “effect” when you should have used “affect” or if you used “there” when you should have used “their.”
12. Submit your articles to article directories, article announcement lists, and to e-zine publishers.
Your submissions, although time consuming if done manually, will help you to successfully get your articles published.
Be sure to submit your articles to my article directory at http://www.netpromarketer.com and to visit http://www.netpromarketer.com/directoriesandlists.html where you’ll find a list of article directories and article announcement lists.
For a handy listing of e-zine publishers that want article submissions check out http://www.ezinelocater.com.

The Complete Beginner’s Guide to Writing Articles.

By: Anna-Marie Stewart
So how do you get started? What do you write about? What do you actually DO with your articles once you`ve written them? It seems daunting, I know. I was petrified myself when I first started writing articles, I still get nervous every time I start submitting a new article all over the net.Getting Started:Do you have a passion? Are you particularly well-versed in a certain topic? Are you willing to invest time in doing research? Either one of these are all you really need, but if you`ve got all 3, then you`re definitely on the right track.

Grab a cuppa, a smoke, whatever you need to relax with, open up notepad/wordpad or even grab a pen and paper. Write down a 5-6 line bio about yourself and/or the product/program you`re promoting, this is commonly known as your “Resource Box”, and should be at the bottom of each and every article you write. The “Resource Box” is THE only place you should promote ANYTHING at all in the article.

Next you need to focus on a topic. Start jotting down thoughts, and don`t worry about how mixed up they may seem to be at first, just keep going. If you can`t think of many things at first, save your work, and look it over another day, more ideas will pop into your head.

Once you feel you have enough, start moving things around until they really begin to make sense to you. Keep going until you`re happy with what you`ve got. Remember, articles don`t need to be mega-long, so long as they are helpful and informative. Write as you would speak, and make it personal, as if you are talking to a good friend. Let your personality shine through.

What to write about:

As I mentioned above, anything you are passionate about, or are well-versed on is a great start. You`re not passionate about anything? Not an “expert” in any subject at all? Well do some research. Start by thinking about what YOU would like to read about, what kind of information would YOU find helpful? Thought about it? Go to www.google.com and type it in, see what comes up, start looking into the various things you find. You could even ask friends and colleagues what THEY would be interested in reading articles about.

What, still can`t come up with anything? It gets like that sometimes, so relax, take a deep breath, and start visiting forums/message boards. What questions are being asked? What do people need help with? Hang out in chat rooms, ask the same questions there, get as much feedback as you can, then start working from there. Eventually, you`ll find you`ve managed to write a GREAT article, in plain English, offering helpful/useful information.

Let a couple of your closest, most honest friends read through your articles for you. Don`t get offended if they make suggestions, some of them might even be good ones…hehehe, but make sure you stick with how it feels best for you.

So now what:

This is where the REAL hard work comes into play, cos now you`re ready to start submitting your articles to the world :~) Ok, if you want to go the easy way about it, stop reading now, go buy yourself some automatic submission software and get stuck into submitting your articles with it.

Personally, I prefer hard graft, and sometimes a bit of the personal touch. So for starters, I subscribe to a LOT of ezines that cover the topics I write about, then I offer the publishers my articles. Most of them are like me, and LOVE being first to publish well written articles. A nice personal mail usually gets that wheel turning ;~)

Then there`s all the article directories, and there`s TONS of them. It`s hard work submitting manually to them all, but then at least you know for definite that they WERE actually submitted. Don`t worry, I`m not going to make you search for them, I`ll list all my favourites here for you, and that`s gonna at least cut down a little on your work-load…hehehe

So here goes:

The first one is my personal favourite, as they make a webpage for your article and submit it to search engines for free. The rest are in no particular order:

Writing Ain’t for Everyone, But Article Writing Is!

 By: John McQueen

Ready…Set…Go! If you are not submitting articles to article directory web sites, which pertain to your site’s content and theme, you are missing the proverbial boat on gaining additional popularity for your web site and valuable, one-way links back to your site which are critical for good placement within the search engines. Many formerly well-ranked, front-page sites have found themselves re indexed and tucked away on page 15 of google. Sound familiar? Who’s going to find you on page 15? Answer: No one. You may want to check some of your top 5 keywords on Google, Yahoo, and MSN to see where you are located. Different that what you expected? Is your site traffic down? Then, you’d better do something and do it quickly. Sites which refuse to write and publish content are “on their way out,” as one web designer and SEO expert has said. Let’s take a look at this issue a bit further. In recent months, it has become absolutely critical for web site owners to submit content-rich articles for publication on major article directory sites, ezines and newsgroups. Gone are the days where it was relatively easy to get front page placement for your site for a few, or even several, key search words (“keywords”). Why the difference? Because the search engines are continually changing their search algorithms to provide more relevant search data to their consumers/customers. The “Big 2,” Google and Yahoo, compete fiercely to supply relevant and cutting-edge results for these searches in order to get people to come back for future searches. In review, the game goes a little like this: Let’s say Sally is taking her lunch break at work and wants to look up some information on shopping in Madrid. Sally fires up her browser, surfs to google and enters “shopping in Madrid” in the search box. On the date of this article, there were 19,600,000 results for this search phrase and only the top 10 are listed on page one. Even though less than thirty percent of people will click to page two, Sally decides she would like to copy-n-paste the first 20 results into an email to her home computer, so she can check the search results in detail when she gets off work. She creates the email and sends it off and does, in fact, research the top 20 results when she gets home. Sounds like “shopping in Madrid” had 0.0001% of all available results indexed actually looked at by a google customer in this instance. Question: What if your web site has a major section devoted to downtown shopping in Madrid? Do you think, with your current level of web presence, that you have a chance of being on the first two pages of google? Would someone like Sally even know you existed? Chances are, she wouldn’t know your web site from a bale of hay! How would you like to *know* that the major portion of your site, which you have spent thousands of dollars developing, pertaining to “shopping in Madrid,” has a very good chance of getting high placement, maybe even front page, on google? While there is no way to “guarantee” this, it is important that you begin writing articles about “shopping in Madrid” and submitting them to the major article directories. Not a writer? Not a problem! Read On! You’d be surprised that once you simply open up your notepad.exe file and begin typing, the ideas just seem to come forth. Type each of these ideas about what you would like to say on a separate line, pressing the enter key twice after each thought. Think of as many things as you can, regardless of how good or sorrowful they might be, and type them out, each on a single line. Tip: Think of what is already on your site and try to dovetail some of this content. Then (we’re almost there…), after you have more than a handful of ideas, go back and put an asterisk by the ideas you think would have the making of some decent content. Save this file as “Topics.txt” on your computer’s desktop and place the icon right smack-dab in the middle of your screen. Now, go get a diet coke or a cup of coffee and think about what you just did. Come back to you computer, open up the file that you just saved, choose one of the topics that you placed an asterisk beside, go to the next line and begin typing whatever comes to mind about that idea. Congratulations! You have just gotten over the hump of writing your first article! I have found that 90% of the “battle” is just selecting the topic. Obviously, you already know at least something about the topic you selected or you would not have written it down in the first place. Now, do a google or yahoo search on your selected topic and see what comes up in the search engines. I bet you see where I’m going with this… Webmasters and site developers, you don’t have to be Truman Capote to write a 600 word article. Most people speak 600 words before they get out the door to go to work in the morning with a cup of coffee in-hand. Do you think you can put together 15 or 20 organized sentences on a topic that you are “supposed” to know a little bit about? I bet you can. Simply begin writing additional ideas below the topic you have selected and form them into a few paragraphs of organized thought that you think someone would be interested in reading. In the above example, “shopping in Madrid” I might see what the new happening place is to get good deals on Spanish antiques. Look up a few sites, select a shop, do a little research and then start writing. The process of writing articles is really not that difficult once you get the hang of it. The above method is a very basic one that should work for many people. Also, please be sure to list the article on your own web site for additional new content which the search engines seem to really like. Once you have this information on your site, you may be surprised what could happen. Let’s say, the Spanish antique dealer which you wrote your article about might just contact you requesting a link or a banner ad be placed on your article page. How did they find your page? They did a search on google for “shopping in Madrid” and found your article listed and contacted you! Ah…success! While this probably won’t happen, you have the assurance that you are going through the right process to promote your web site and gain exposure in the search engines. There are many article directories to submit articles to. If set up properly, with one click of your mouse, you have the ability to create over 400 one-way back links to your web site. How long would this take you if you were doing the old reciprocal link campaign? Go! You have invested countless hours and extraordinary effort to have a successful online business. It’s now up to you to keep it! By the way, the above article took less than one hour to write, revise, proof-read, and submit to over 400 article directories…and this writer ain’t no Truman Capote. Good luck! How To Get Your Business Noticed

  by David Riewe

Many people will tell you that to get your web site noticed you need to ‘optimize’ your site for the search engines. You are then led up a path where you have to keep changing your web site as the search engines change their ways of listing things. As fast as you ‘optimize’ your site, Google and the others have moved the goalposts, meaning you have to keep optimizing over and over again. Now consider some facts. Most people in the world are not users of the Internet. Let’s repeat that. The vast majority of people who you want to reach don’t use the Internet. It doesn’t matter how well you optimize your web site, they simply will never find it.

Here’s another fact. Some of the best Internet marketers make most of their sales ‘offline’. They sell their books, CD-ROMs and so on at seminars, workshops and conferences. Indeed, for many ‘Internet marketers’ these ‘offline’ sales represent the bulk of their income.

So what do these facts tell us? They show us that ‘offline’ promotion is more important than online promotion. You may be able to optimize your web site to get high rankings in a search engine. But that doesn’t mean you’ll reach the vast majority of people who could buy your product or use your information.

This was confirmed recently by one study that showed most people go to an Internet address (URL) after having read it in a newspaper or magazine, been given it by a friend or colleague, or having heard it being mentioned by someone speaking at a meeting or on TV. In other words, it seems that significant numbers of people who get to your web site will do so having heard the URL somewhere outside the Internet.

You can get many people visiting your web site, even if you are not ranked highly by the search engines. You can do this in two main ways:

1. Write articles for use in regular publications – newspapers, magazines and so on. Always include your URL in the article and you’ll get millions of people to notice your web site address.

2. Speak at every opportunity. Make presentations to business clubs, chambers of commerce, local societies – you name it, you should speak at it. Every time you speak, announce or your web site address.

Although these are the two principal ways of gaining offline publicity for your web site, don’t neglect your business stationery, posters, car stickers and so on. The more your web site address is visible outside the web, the more visitors you will get regardless of how kind the search engines are to you.

By: Larry Westfall
We all know the reasons for submitting articles online to all of the many, article depositories that reside on the Internet. Writing an original article and submitting it will get you massive exposure, your credibility will be enhanced, and you will receive quality and relevant leads to your website. The more sites you submit to, the more exposure you will receive.Submitting your articles establishes you as an expert in whatever field you have chosen to write about. If your articles have relevant content, they could be picked up by numerous other websites, Blogs and eZines getting you additional exposure.

Ensure that you use original content, write articles that are straight and to the point, and have something important to say. Search engines look for meaningful, original content and are quick to spider something fresh and new. And we all know how important it is to be indexed by the major search engines and also to be constantly checked by the spiders for updated material. A stale and stagnant web page will get nowhere in search-engine land.

There are many web site owners, eZine publishers and eBook creators that are starving for quality content and would jump at the chance for fresh, quality content. We all get tired of seeing the same old stale material on every web site we visit, so publishers are always on the lookout for quality material.

The problem we all face is manually submitting the articles to the hundreds of article submission sites. Having to copy and paste each individual field, different formats and requirements for each and every site, and then being rejected because of some minor problem. This is an extremely time-consuming and tedious process but well worth the effort if one wants their site exposed all over the Internet. AN automated article submitter is your answer.

So, make sure that you write quality material, your content is accurate and fresh, and that you submit your articles to as many sites as possible. In this case, exposing yourself is a good thing.
