What One Expects From Google

By: jamia

Small Entrepreneurs Ain’t that Beautiful

Search engines like Google moves forward with a damn good amount of expectation from its clients. But what we see around gives a glimpse of negligence, a client should always be expecting from them. Now if that, as I claim, is for Google to maximize profit, it surely has to be explained with logical clarity. Let’s start with one of the most reported of Google’s deficiencies. Suppose you wish to sell a product quiet unique in its own respect yet not something that everyone would always require. You might have been thrilled with Google’s claims to promote the small entrepreneur; but then in the course of your journey, you realize that being small ain’t all that beautiful.

Why care for the Small

Deep inside the processing houses of Google, there they sit stretched on the chairs, are made to mingle with men of the same thoughts and habits, the outside world slowly fading with the glamour of the lights inside. They hence might not feel that it is worthy of addressing the queries of a small entrepreneur. He is now struck with a problem. His product was decided to be sold online, using a Google ad campaign, with target words hard enough to enable clients to each him, or as he believed. However, Google says that the person in question has words with low “quality scores”. He should hence be penalized with higher word costs. An ad with a low “quality score” was often disabled by Google which our friend was unlucky to have. Probably if you pay more, your ads have a greater chance to remain but with less success, which shall force people like our entrepreneur to close the deal with Google.

Be Large to Campaign

Google’s system works less with key words and more with campaigns. In a campaign when you have a keyword performing poorly, the rest of the words get affected with it. This necessitates targeting the campaign than the keywords for which the need of the day shall be to turn into a big advertiser with a broad range of items.

If that does explain quite a big fallacy of Google search engine operations, then the prevailing click frauds shall appear more disgusting. When Google makes money each time someone clicks the ads, there remains a chance that a fraud could click and click yet buy nothing out of those ads. While the advertiser is charged with a hefty bill as rent for Google, his product still remains unsold or probably undersold in the ad world. Google in most cases have proposed to make things right but has been hazy in its actions. This is where one stops over to think right about the claims and demeanor of Google- what has been stated by this search engine yet remains to be verified.

I stumbled across the site http://www.organicspam.com and found something for the webmasters to rely upon; fighting against the supreme monopoly of the search engines. Everybody can come together and Raise Your Voice against them.

How do I know these things? Because Google has been open about what they are looking for. These are not theories based on observations; these are things that Google has discussed openly through employees, at conferences.

Full Steps To SEO WordPress Blog

By CY Tang

To optimize your wordpress blog, simply follow the following guidelines:

Friendly permalink structure
The first thing to do before creating any post is to change the permalink. Always do this before you post anything. The most friendly permalink structure should be what this site has, with the structure "domain.com/post-name". I have seen a lot of people tend to use the date and month in the middle of the url, which is not a good thing, as the deeper you put your post in, the harder it gets found, unless you really have a good content.

If you have already used these formats and want to change to my suggested one, then the only thing you can do is to create redirection manually for each pages. Do not try editting htaccess because it won't work. I have tried it but the next day you woke up, you will find htaccess being rewritten back to the default. It seems like WordPress will automatically rewrite htaccess file. The only way you could do is to create "permanent redirection" for each page. It is important to choose permanent redirection instead of temporary as it is the one that is seo friendly. From my experience, using this method can successfully changed top ranking pages to point to the new url without losing any ranking. If you are already using the default structure, which is domain.com/?p=5, then simply no need worry. Just changed the structure and it will keep the old pages active instead of error page. Sooner, spiders will update your ranked pages with the new url.

Use suitable tags and structure
Make sure every post you make, the title has h2 tag, instead of some other name created in css. If it has something like "post-title", change it to "h2" in the stylesheet. It is important to have h2 tagged titles in every post you make. Always choose a good title for your post. Try not to use the newspaper style of headline. If you are writing about advantages of playing tennis, simply call it "Advantages of Playing Tennis", it's strong enough itself. Always put bolds on the suitable wordings or sentences. Adding "li" tags can be a powerful way to make your post looks more orgnaized. Some WordPress theme has h2 tags on some wordings that should not deserve, such as "Leave a comment" or "Category". Always change them to smaller as they will not do any goods to you. Always put the correct links in your blog that can allow spiders to follow. Never hide your archives and categories links. Put them at the sidebar. It is important to realise that, without having a link to somewhere, search engine spiders will *never* know the existance.

Use optimized title
The default title WordPress uses is less friendly to be used as it puts the post title at last. It is better to move the title infront. You can download a plugin called optimal title, which allows you to put on the title, which can show the title anywhere you want. You can use the format "Post Name" – "Site Name", which is the most effective way. But do remember, don't always change your mind after making the modification. If you change the format 5 times in a month, it is unlikely your posts will be indexed high and you will be wasting your time.

Install related post plugin
This can be the most powerful thing to do. Always install this plugin, it is an effective way not only making your website looks more valuable and also a great way to improve page views. People who read your article will always want to read more, and at least 5 related articles link put aside or below the article should attract them to go ahead and read more. Try download the related plugin and change it to display 10 related articles instead of 5, if possible. This plugin can also help your post looks more valuable to spiders and making other related posts easier to be indexed too.

Link exchange with quality blog
Never neglect the importance of outbound link in your blog. If your blog has already had some pagerank, you should probably find some link partners easily from forums and blogs. Always choose those with related content to be your partners. It will make your website seen more quality to spiders. If you are starting out and have no partners at all, it can take sometimes to search for the right partners. Always make friends in forums, post actively there. Leaving your blog's url in signature of every post for many big forums can be a powerful and effective way to promote your blog. Some forums are popular enough that they have high pagerank on showthread.php file or others, it is a good way to increase your PR too!

Get rid of spamming comments and links
We all know people can leave comments in every post, but how valuable are comments? I must admit, comments are extremely valuable. They can make your post rocks so high on a competitive keyword, but only if the content is good enough. Related comments can add more context to your post, in terms of the view from spiders. Having nice people leaving related words is a great way to improve the value of your article. However, there are spammers in the blogging world. Often times you will find people leaving stuff like "buy viagra, cigrattes, etc" in the comments and leave whole bunch of links to unrelated content. These should always be taken as a serious issue because they are killing your post! Do always filter new comments before approving it. There is a nice function in WordPress that you can use to hold a post if it contains a particular word, or if it has x number of links. Simply go to Options -> Discussion, at the part where it says "Hold a comment in the queue if it contains more than…", enter the number as 1. Now, if anyone places a link or more in the comment, the comment will automatically be put on hold. Below it is the Comment Blacklist feature, put in the words that you want to block to prevent undesirable wordings to appear in your blog.

Top viewed posts plugin
Another powerful method you can do is to install the top views plugin. This plugin can display the most popular posts in your blog, thus attracting more readers and improve your pageviews. I think you can change the default number to display, I usually will display the top 15 most viewed posts.

Customize your error 404 page
Always remember to edit the error page. Often times when a post is deleted and there is new visitor coming, wordpress will bring the visitor to the 404 page. Now, you don't want to miss any new visitor to know more about your site. One thing you can do, is to copy the index.php coding and paste it to the error page. This can let the visitor seeing your homepage instead of a blank page saying the page is not found. Alternatively, you can leave the correct link on the error page, asking the visitor to click on it to arrive on the correct page.

Keeping a fast loading blog
I often see a lot of bloggers putting all sorts of weird codes and frames inside a blog. Never do that, as it slows down the loading of a page and keeps visitors away. Internet users are mostly lazy people, I should say, they rather close the window and go and get a Subway, than sitting there waiting for something to be shown for 2 minutes. You should always make sure your blog has easy navigation for people to browse through the whole site. The default "Next" and "Previous" links are good enough, but you can try to change the anchor text to something like "Read more about %sitename%" and "Read old topics on %sitename%".

Google sitemap for WordPress
It was quite a buzz last few years when Google announced that webmasters can use sitemap as a way to communicate with spiders to help getting their pages indexed. According to Google's website, it states "The Sitemap Protocol allows you to inform search engine crawlers about URLs on your Web sites that are available for crawling. A Sitemap consists of a list of URLs and may also contain additional information about those URLs, such as when they were last modified, how frequently they change, etc.". Fair enough that a sitemap should do some good to your blog. Learn how to generate a Google sitemaps and submit it to Google to help boosting your indexing power.

Beat Google’s Dampening Link Filter With SEO Articles

By: Glenn Murray
Most Search Engine Optimization (SEO) experts agree that links back to your site have a great impact on your ranking in the major search engines. Think of it like an election; your site is a candidate and every link to your site is a vote. Of course, it was never quite that simple (high ranking, relevant sites have more voting power) but now it may have gotten even more complicated. The Dampening Link FilterIt seems that Google may have introduced something called a “Dampening Link Filter” into its indexing algorithm. I’ll give you a layperson’s overview of this filter, but for more intimate details, check out http://www.webpronews.com/insiderreports/searchinsider/wpn-49-20050407GooglesNewLinkFilter.html#google.

More and more people are realising the importance of links back to your site (or “backlinks”). For some time, companies have been engaging in all sorts of link campaigns designed to generate thousands of backlinks. Many of these campaigns haven’t really paid too much attention to the context or lifespan of these links. And Google knows it. Because these campaigns are designed to artificially generate the perception of a site’s importance – to trick the search engines into thinking they’re important – it’s been suggested that Google has decided to put an end to it. Apparently, there’s evidence to suggest that Google has introduced a new link filter to dampen the effect of new backlinks. So if your link generation campaign has just created 500 links in a day from seemingly irrelevant sites, Google will suspect it of being artificial, and refuse to pass on the full effect of those links – at least for a while. Well, that’s how the theory goes, anyway.

It has been argued that you can avoid being penalized by this filter by generating links:

• more slowly;
• from relevant sites; and
• which have a long lifespan.

The wisdom of relevance and lifespan is already well established; the dampening filter is simply one more reason why people should start to heed it. Writing and submitting SEO articles for online publication is one way to do so.

This article explains how SEO articles satisfy each of these three conditions. (For the basics of SEO article writing, take a look at http://www.divinewrite.com/seoarticles.htm.)

Build Backlinks Slowly

Writing quality articles takes time. It’s as simple as that. Even an SEO copywriter can’t just bang an article together in a morning – it has to be well considered. It must be accurate, informative, interesting, well written, and topical. And once you’ve written the article, the real work begins. You then have to submit it to your favourite article submit sites. And as they all have different requirements and idiosyncrasies, submitting your article to 50 submit sites can take you all day!

Once submitted, even the best articles will only be published gradually. A good article can be published 2 or 3 times a day for a week or two, then interest tapers off. But still, over the course of 6 months a single good article can be published hundreds of times! And remember, each time is a link.

Build Backlinks From Relevant Sites

As soon as you choose the topic of your article, you define the type of site that will publish it. All online publishers have an agenda; they want to generate traffic. Whether for commercial or benevolent reasons, they want particular kinds of articles for very specific audiences. Your article won’t be published on irrelevant sites simply because the publishers of those sites get nothing out of it.

Of course, your article may be published on sites that are only marginally relevant. For instance, this article may be published on general copywriting websites, advertising websites, web design websites, home business websites, etc. But the beauty of a well written SEO article is that you get to optimize it for the keywords that you want to rank for. So even if the keywords on the publishing site don’t quite match your own target keywords, the page containing your link (i.e. your article) does.

What’s more, you even have the power to optimize the links themselves. For instance, as an SEO copywriter, I can distribute backlinks throughout my article that use my target keywords as the link text (e.g. copywriter, SEO copywriter, advertising copywriter, and website copywriter ;-). Some submit sites don’t let you do this, but most will – at least in the byline.

And one other thing – other people link to good articles. This can increase the Page Rank of the site containing your article, which, in turn, can increase the page rank of your own site. It’s a win-win situation!

Build Backlinks With a Long Lifespan

The quality of your SEO article determines the lifespan of your backlink. Write a very helpful article, make it easy to read, and choose a topic which isn’t going to go away in a hurry, and your article will stay online for years.

In any event, most publishers tend not to clear out their article libraries simply because it’s better for them to have lots of content available to both readers and search engines.

Conclusion

While it’s no new phenomenon to SEO veterans and SEO copywriters, the writing of SEO articles to generate backlinks is a tactic which offers much in the way of ranking. The possibility of a Google dampening link filter simply increases the value of that offering.

Happy writing!

Why 95% Of Articles Are Useless For SEO Marketing

By: Dave Ryan
Many webmasters submit articles about their respective niches to gain incoming links from other webmasters in their niche or a related subject matter, but 95% of them are doing it WRONG!When you are writing an article for your niche to be used by other webmasters you need to optimize it for them. Remember, they are who you are writing the articles for; why would you want to give them junk that wont help them draw in customers? If you write articles that don't help out the webmasters who use it, odds are that they will choose not to use your future articles. The key to writing strong articles is simple, provide the content that they want for their site. Many authors will just write about the topic but not consider how well it will perform on others sites, and this is a fatal error. You need to use simple search engine optimization (SEO) tactics in your articles to get the best response from your articles. You need to help increase their page rank, be it on Google, MSN, Yahoo or any other search engine. If you optimize your articles in this way webmasters will definitely want to use your articles, not only that but are a lot more likely to check in on your future articles and use them as well.

So what are the search engine optimization (SEO) tactics you can use in your articles? Keywords, keywords, keywords. Now packing your article full of the related keywords will only do so much and it may actually deter webmasters from using your articles if the content isn't worth reading to a visitor. There are some simple to use guidelines for using keywords though, that if implemented will increase your syndication rate by leaps and bounds.

Headings, such as your title, will have greater search engine weight than the content in the article. So try to build your title around the niche using related keywords. The title is the #1 thing that will make or break your articles syndication so make sure to focus it on the niche and be creative. Remember your title not only draws in webmasters to use your article, it also draws in people to their site to read it. The more people you draw to their site the more likely they are to pick up your next article.

Bold content, relative to the article, will have a greater search engine weight than the normal text. This is powerful as it allows you to make certain words stick out to the reader, and the search engine spiders. Use this to emphasize key points, but be careful not to over use it as it will look lame and will drive off readers.

Check out article content sites such as E-Biz Articles to see how well crafted articles dominate over poorly constructed ones. There are a lot of article submission sites out there and they all want one thing, quality content for webmasters to use. So please don't submit articles that are not directly focused on the niche as it will be less likely to get syndicated and could wreck a webmasters site if it is automatically posted there(through RSS). Not only that but they will be a lot less likely to post your next article to their site. Always remember, your writing for webmasters. Provide them with quality and they will provide you with a syndicated article spot on their site AKA the golden feed for an article writer.
